For reference, I have a 2023 2 Door Badlands Lux with the B&O stereo setup. Any help from the stereo gurus ;) @RagnarKon @Brian_B

Has anyone installed the Musway Two100 amp or any other 2 channel amp to power the rear pods with the B&O setup from Ford? I also have a Kicker Key 500.1 running the sub. I purchased both amps and the Plug n Play adapters from plugnplaykits.com. Install was easy just now confounded with this hissing….

I mounted the Musway under the steering wheel and the Kicker in the back space on the passenger side toward the tailgate.

I have tried the ground above the Driver side speaker.

I have tried drilling and dremmeling off the paint at spot close to that ground. Per Joe @plugnplaykits I have moved the ground to the brace that holds the amp under the steering wheel. All three grounds still give off the same low hissing noise when the Bronco is opened and for a few seconds until the Bronco goes into sleep mode when closing the door.

The hissing isn’t terrible and I’m not sure if it’s affecting the sound quality, but it is noticeable to me in the drivers seat and to rear passengers.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as always. Thanks!!!

@smonroe11

Is the hissing constant, even while music is playing - or just when like the Bronco is doing it’s shutdown thing?

Does the volume of the hissing change with master volume or gain of amp?

Where are you picking up the input the the Musway?

Where are you picking up +12V for the Musway?

Replies to your questions…👇

Is the hissing constant, even while music is playing - or just when like the Bronco is doing it’s shutdown thing? Yes it’s constant and can’t tell if it is hissing while music plays. The sound is loud and clear to my ears.

Does the volume of the hissing change with master volume or gain of amp? No

Where are you picking up the input the the Musway? I am picking up the high level input from the back of the ACM by way of plugnplaykits.com Y harness.

Where are you picking up +12V for the Musway? I have run an 8 gauge wire directly to one of the posts on the battery.

Thanks for taking the time to help me with this…I tried this morning to turn the bass boost up all the way and down all the way, to turn the Frequency up all the way and down all the way, and Input Sensitivity up all the way and down all the way and no change in hissing. Here are some pics from the manual:

I did change the CROSSOVER toggle from Bal to HP and no change and then changed the CROSSOVER toggle to LP and the Hissing stopped!!! Not sure what that means.

Does it have something to do with the speaker being set as a tweeter in the code. Can forscan help with this even though it’s the B&O setup?

Thanks again

No, Forscan can't help I don't think.

Looking over your answers, I don't see anything glaring. I think you have a bad amp. There is a very remote chance that it's your ACM output, or still dirty power, but those are pretty low odds.

The only two things I could think that you may try, I am not saying you have to try these things, as these are pretty remote chances.... mostly just curiosity and to make double darn sure before you rip it out, if you were so inclined to do so:

One would be unplug your high level inputs and plug a walkman or phone something into the RCA jacks and see if it persists with that (not so common anymore, but 3.5mm headphone to RCA cables used to be very common thing). At the same time, hook your factory speakers back up to your high level input (temporarily) and make sure the hiss isn't coming through on the wiring. A high level input should be fine, but again, just making double darn sure.

The other would be to temporarily run a #10 or something around to the power straight to the battery for + and -. Just temporarily, like jumper cables for the test, don't need to run it through the firewall or anything. I don't think it's your ground, or dirty power anywhere, but this would double darn check that too.

Thanks for your responses...I'll run the rca cords with my iphone and see what happens....

Can I run the amp temporarily off of a battery brick jump starter? Attach red to red cable and black to ground cable? Also I used high quality 0FC high current wiring for the power and ground.

or it could be a bad harness from plugnplay???

Thanks again.

Maybe? Some of the brick starters only turn on if they are detect they are connected to a battery. If it produces 12V without being on a battery then yes.

I don’t suspect anything there, for the record - it allows you with a straight face to say it definitively isn’t a grounding or dirty power issue for an RMA.

Same with the harness - I really doubt it’s something there, I would suspect internal electronics on the amp before noise on a speaker-level input. Even if you do the RCA test and it comes out clean doesn’t completely prove it is, or is not, the amp or harness - still very possible it’s the circuitry in the amp that does the LOC function.

I’m going to call their customer support. The rca test produced the same noise. I’m with you. I think it’s a bad amp. Thanks again for your insight.

Sounds like an amp to me. Unplug inputs. Hiss stay? You said it stayed with gain down. No input and gains down, it should be dead silent.

I just got the same amp two.100 and harness from Plug and Play. Could someone tell me where the CH1: green/greenblk and CH2: purple/purpleblk connect. Do they connect to the speaker output on the amp?

Thanks,
Bill

He should have written it on the included instructions. I’d email him. I can’t find my instructions right now but if I do I’ll let you know.

Unless that image is distorted, gain (input sensitivity) looks very high.
