No company is exempt from recalls in this day. A friend had issues with his new Tacoma engine and although they were not related to the recalls, he decided to trade on a new GMC last year. I showed him this the other day ,lol..

GM could recall more than 870,000 vehicles due to reports of engine failure
Go figure, lol. Honda has a connecting rod bearing recall on some newer Pilots and such, 2017's excluded. Ironically, two of the vehicles I worked on, that had rod knocks, were 2017's.

Generally you don't have to wait for 10-12 months for a warranty either 🤷🏻‍♂️
takata air bag recall went on for years.....and that was a serious & legit safety recall
Toyota frame recall went of for years as well
sometimes the part supply does not keep up with the needs

For those who have already replaced it, Ford should should pay you back. I would check it out. We only have 1 car so I need to drive mine.
That is what I am hoping! Paying $3,000 on a new vehicle to replace all the shocks at 34000 miles was nuts to me. The dealer wouldn't even look at it. ford defiantly knew at the time I had to wait for upgraded shocks to replace originals. I have been waiting to see this recall come out for months now.

Not surprised at the recall... Going to be a while before they have the hundreds of thousands of replacement shocks available. Not to mention the time needed to re-design the reservoir attachment.
they already have! when I ordered replacements I had to wait for the "upgraded version" no clue what that means

When did you have them replaced? Because the updated version that was fixed for this recall wasn't out until recently

One failed over the summer then a month later the other rear failed but couldn't get parts till September and by then the fronts both started leaking so I had to do all 4. how long to the fronts get recalled?

Yeah so the ones you had replaced, the part number may have been updated, but I don't think they were the same ones this recall is installing. So you may still have the same issue down the road unless you have them replaced again under this recall.

As far as the fronts being recalled, probably never since we've never seen a front reservoir fall off on this forum to my knowledge.

I guess I should have posted them but give it time I can't be the only one. it's the same design

Your front reservoirs actually fell off? Or they were just leaking?

if I didn't replace them, they would have the same corrosion same spot probably would have taken another month, but I couldn't drive it was so bouncy with no shocks. I started only driving my f250 till it was fixed

I guess time will tell, but If we haven't seen any front reservoirs actually fall off at this point, I don't think they'll be recalled.

Yes, looking at the latest info available, it’s clear that there was a change over to the new design on production units. Now they just need to be able to produce the volume needed for the recall.

My guess is that it is merely a difference in the welding between the shock body and the reservoir...some small change that gives Ford/Bilstein more confidence that it will not rust off, at least not as quick.

They likely had to cut corners to make the Sasquatch package such a good deal; especially in the beginning. Worth it just for the locking diffs and upgraded transfer case in my opinion. That being said, I have been very happy with the base setup. For on road and light offroading consisting mostly of un maintained roads/green type trails the Hitachis, open diffs combined with the addition of 33s have worked well. I was weary of going base in the beginning but kind of glad now considering how I use it.
