Guess we have an upcoming over the air recall. Thank goodness because it’s been super annoying when off roading for me.

Official Recall Notice:

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2021-2022 Ford Bronco models over a rearview camera issue.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the rearview camera image may still be displayed after a backing event has ended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility.”
The hazards: a rearview image that continues to be displayed after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse may distract the driver, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.
Components: rearview camera
Affected vehicles: select 2021-2022 Ford Bronco models produced at the Michigan Assembly plant from September 23rd, 2020 to May 18th, 2022.
Number of vehicles affected: 47,046
The fix: dealers will update the SYNC module software, which can also be completed via an over-the-air update, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on December 19th, 2022. The Ford reference number for this recall is 22C27.

Awesome! Yes super annoying. Happens to mine often when off-roading. I’ve tried turning off the delay feature with no success

Really! This is one of my favorite features of the Bronco … the fact that I can still see behind me when I start driving forward, and that I can simply stop the rear view whenever I want by pressing the “X” at top of screen.

At least you got the option to stop it by pressing X! Mine wouldn’t let me do anything

So will it be an automatic OTA.update or will we have to take it in?

I had that problem with a bronco at the offrodeo. Then eventually the screen went blue.

Yep, experienced this at Bronco Off-Roadeo - pretty distracting. Mine was built after the listed time period so I have not experienced the issue on th use newer build.

It’s not just that it’s distracting. It prevents carplay and therefore onX, and the X button doesn’t work

Seriously, @Ford Motor Company , I LOVE it that the camera stays on after backing up…especially the 360 camera! NGL, It’s ridiculously handy in parking lots!

Mine is a '21 in that range and have never had this issue. One would think if it were software that it would be consistent. Hopefully they don't break something in the process...

So does this mean that you can no longer choose to delay when the camera shuts off? Is this really an issue or did some people complain because they couldn’t find the settings for this?

It only happens in 4L for me.

Except for many peoples broncos (like mine) the camera would stay on indefinitely or eventually the screen would just turn blue and not reset until you restart the car. It's not just, "the setting." Mind you mine only happened in 4L, which is weird, and not that big of a deal, until the screen turned blue and I couldn't do anything with it, just had to restart.
