Front axle lube capacity higher on non locking non FAD than with FAD, meaning the FAD is in the differential case. North7 shared a photo that implies this but I believed it would be Indiidual Wheel Engagement (IWE). Really this only applies to the non Sas BB and a few OBX w/o adv 4x4, so I'm probably the only one who cares, but interesting.

What about the coolant capacity difference on a 2.3, between 7mt and 10at? does that mean coolant flows through the 10at for cooling? I can't imagine that's a packaging difference ..

The 2.7 has a Motorcraft 2026A “ cartridge” for the oil filter.

Unlike many transmissions that route fluid to the radiator to cool, the Bronco routes coolant to a heat exchanger mounted to the transmission, hence more coolant. There is a photo in one of the transmission threads, but I couldn't find it.

5w30...thought they might have moved to 5w20 that my last few fords have ran.

Cool, thanks as I know what to get now...sticky this for future reference maybe?
I expected 5w20. Odd.

Idk what DCT fluid is but it doesn't belong in a manual, it was painful enough having to put ATF in Ford's older manuals.
I think all the "regular" EcoBoost engines except some of the 3cyl in Focus, Escape, EcoSport take 5w30?

Nope, I noticed that too. Very curious, especially since IWE has become so common on Fords.

An 800 CCA AGM battery is a nice surprise

2.3 oil filter vs 2.7 oil filter

2.7 oil filter looks a lot bigger and newer design (and 2-3x more expensive)

[/QUOTE]

It's for a Dual Clutch Transmission, and I agree it does not belong in a manual. Getrag Manual Transmissions are a bit finicky when cold. The MT82 6spd in the Mustang calls for the same fluid. It was to address complaints of a "notchy" feeling when shifting while cold.
I run amsoil MTG (Manual Transmission Gear Oil) in my Mustang. It is still a bit "notchy" when cold, but greatly improved. This notchy feeling is actually the synchronizers and should and can be avoided. A quality oil and deliberate slow shifts or double clutch shifts are required when cold. Once it's warmed up a few miles, smooth as silk.

Do we know the recommended intervals.

3k, 5k, or 7.5k?

Is motorcraft full synthetic, blended, or Pennsylvania crude?

I’m getting the 2.7 and it seems the oil filter is on top of the engine, if thats true that’s like my Tacoma and a breeze to change. All so I’m going to use full synthetic in mine I hope that will be ok.

Probably uses an oil life monitor with 10k max life. I'll use mobil 1 full synthetic.

Discussed this with Redline a while back, DCT fluid is closer in viscosity to an ATF, but with the antiwear additives like an MTF. A DCT is pretty much two manual transmissions in parallel, anyways. Speccing out DCTF in a manual trans happens a lot, it's what is in the GS6-45BZ manual in my M235i.

I'll mark this thread so I can refer to it in 2028 when I need to do some service on my Bronco...
