so.....a friend of mine had his nonremote start F150 programmed to start remotely with his standard key fob by a local Ford dealership. What are the chances this can be done on a manual transmission? Obviously, there are safety switches that would have to be overridden or programmed differently. ie. neutral safety/clutch switch........I guess I should have searched for this....

The thought itself could be enough to know the answer.

Why would you ever leave your vehicle out of gear?

There is absolutely zero reasons for this not to be a thing. They already have a clutch interlock (I presume) that can be replaced with a neutral safety switch. There is already a parking brake switch that can be used for said purpose. If an idiot like myself knows this, a programmer can have this licked in 10 minutes. The R&D is already done. As for cost, it would be no different.

Most installers won't even touch the aftermarket options either. There's just too much liability and too many stories on the internet of people parking their brand new F150s in their living room.

I would never leave her in neutral. Reverse or first depending on the elevation. No remote start for me. That’s why I got them fancy built in butt warmers!

Not something I would do on an incline but on a level surface, any functional parking brake will suffice.

I think Ron White had a bit about that.
I guess Ford is protecting us from ourselves.....
This is how dumb our society has become however I can understand the liabilities. In the long run, I suppose the cost would lie in the legal documentation involved like the warnings that come on the visors regarding 4X4 use.....

for those winter months... I decided I’ll just have a solid 2 minutes of sitting in the cold while the oily bits get some heat, like a peasant. I may even have to start wearing gloves again, like an idiot.

Most aftermarket companies won’t do it either due to liability. There’s just too many issues, IMO with a manual transmission it is simply not safe to leave it in neutral with just the parking brake on. Just asking for trouble.
