Removable MTI Acoustic Downfire Subwoofer Box

About a year and a half ago i started to upgrade my B&O system.

At first I tried to replace the stock speakers including the subwoofer and added a separate amp for the subwoofer. The OEM amp was not able to drive the aftermarket speakers.

I decided to go mObridge and replace the B&O system all together. I replaced the subwoofer OEM box with a custom box and that made a huge improvement. But it was a little too punchy for me.

While I was shopping for a subwoofer box designed for the trunk I came across to the box built by the guys at MTI Acoustic and I was sold. From the communication with Jim Skaggs, to the packaging and shipping, just pure profesionalism. Did I mentioned the quality of the subwoofer box?

A down firing box that is designed for the Bronco trunk with a 12” Audio Mobile GTS subwoofer that delivers a smooth and detailed low end.

With two presets using the custom box in the OEM location I can disconnect the trunk box and remove it when I need the trunk space.

I have their 6.5 Rollbar enclosures and they are great. I did the same as you, I put an 8” Kicker in the OEM enclosure but could not get rid of the rattle fully so I bought a box for the cargo area. I used 2-pin waterproof connectors so I can swap back whenever I need the space.

That’s exactly why I went this route, couldn’t get rid of the rattles even with a custom box. The OEM location is just awful for a subwoofer

i went with mti tailgate sub& box as thats all there was ..then
it thumps i may add the new box with some 10" just to round out sound lol
two 12" woofs are below my genre hertz needs

MTI can design the box for two 10” as well.
It is a really nice box.

i went alpine co axle on deck pods and alpine mini subs in kickers -
also amp and processor lol great even with top and doors off

I Have a kicker 10 in downfiring enclosure.....sounds good but can be better!! #excusestopurchase

I bought a security drawer from Facebook market and cut it up. Built a box (Down firing) for a 12 inch sub in the back and still have half the security drawer up front. I didn't want anyone stealing my sub, they're not cheap. I still need to seal and carpet the box but I should have it finished and install it this weekend.

Reading through this, I was thinking the same thing....1/2 speaker box, 1/2 security box. Would like more details on the security enclosure you used and more pics, assuming you don't mind sharing.

I went with a similar idea:

Did mostly the same thing, but built it myself. Nice part was that doing so let me get the enclosure size exactly right for the sub that I picked. Bad part was that it was quite tedious to get right in playing around with dimensions. Posted this up in the modcrate thread before, but hopefully this gives people ideas for other solutions

It's the Ford security drawer. I bought it used for $250. When I finish it, I'll post more pictures and give measurements.
