You can buy an aftermarket tow hitch today (without the wiring harness, but you said you need it for MTB, so wiring harness isn't required)
Yah....thanks. I've seen the Curt hitch. I'll drop the hitch, but you know it won't change a thing. Still have that MIC top...and it's a must have.

My admittedly largely uneducated guess is there is something with the 7-pin connector that is causing the delays. The only way to get the 7-pin connector is with the factory tow package. The hitch itself and the 4-pin you can easily get via accessories. So there has to be some chip in some control module that enables you to easily integrate with a trailer brake controller. And that is what is constraining the entire package. I can't think of what else it would be other than that.

For those that don't need a trailer brake controller... I'd be dropping the tow package immediately.

Unfortunately I'm one of those that wants the trailer brake controller--actually have it sitting next to me in a box--so guess I'm sticking around for the long haul.
Aha!
Well with this truck's minimal tow capability, I see Nofa King Reason for trailer brakes.
Must speak to the dealer...

That makes no sense at all. They have hard tops but not enough for demand.
2 dr people don’t have a factory option for a soft top so our broncos aren’t being built. So make 4dr soft top only so they will just make 2dr hard tops 🤷‍♂️

I agree with you. A hardtop Bronco is my first choice, my second choice is a hard top Rubicon
Agreed, if I don’t have a build date by spring I’m going low mileage used rubicon 2dr 🤷‍♂️
