I'm ordering a Bronco Base 2-door. I'm not a rock crawler, and I am ordering the manual transmission. That means I am stuck with the minivan tires that are standard. They are 255/75R16. I do drive off the beaten path and current drive a Ranger FX4. Should I just buy a better set of tires in the same size (KO2s or Grabber AT2s)? Size up on the 16s? Or order a new set of wheels and tires if I want to get to a 31" or 32" tire?

I typically run winter tires on my other vehicles, but the goal there is to always keep a similar sized tire to stock. I'm guessing there is a tool for that or the dealership can do it, but that isn't a sure thing.

Thanks for the help. I know a lot of you have way more experience resizing tires/wheels than I do.

You should be able to get a slightly larger tire on the same rim, if you want to keep the rims, and not spend money on new wheels or go big get new wheels and rubber. :)

They are putting 33's on teh Badlands without teh Sasquatch so its a pretty safe assumption 33's will fit.

Here's a good site for tire size comparisons. https://tiresize.com/calculator/

You don't have to go all the way up to 33s if you don't want, 265/75/16 is a 32" tire (same size as Big Bend, Black Diamond, and Outer Banks) that will give you a touch more ground clearance than your Ranger and has lots of choices in the A/T category.

I have a 31" GT Radial Komodo on my comanche with 16" rims. They are just over 600 a set on Amazon. They are pretty good offroad, and relatively quiet.

Thanks everyone. I’m torn on just adding new tires or getting new wheels from Method or Fifteen52 and adding tires to those. Good thing I have months to think about it.

255 85 16, Same width as stock base, but 32.6" tall. Available in Cooper Discoverer ST. Will fit stock rims and (probably) allow tire chains.

....Base 2-door. .....They are 255/75R16.
I believe the Base has 255/70R16, approx 30.1" dia.
Do they look small on the Bronco? (got a profile pic?)

To compare tires, I use Tire Rack or Discount Tire to search avail sizes. Here's what's avail in the Generals on Tire Rack.

I'm considering the Base also, and would like to upsize the tires merely to make it look respectable!
The Black Diamond uses a 265/70-15 which is 31.4" diameter.... not a huge difference from the Base size.

Great thread, any other recommendations for the stock rims at about 32" or 33". This may be the route I go if Sasquatch Package is too much.

There are some good tires to choose from in this size in the mud tread pattern too.

When you ask a tire question, everyone is going to comment about how great the tires they are using are.

That being said, I’m running k02s and the are fantastic! ?

My only other tires I had on my 4Runner are the nitto terra grapplers. They were ok but really lost traction in wet conditions. The K02s handle the wet much better and all around grip is better. Didn’t notice any noise difference.

Is 265/75/16 the size to go for 32" to 33" ? I thought somebody mentioned the rims were too narrow to go with a 32/33.

The stock rims on the base are 7 inches wide, which usually means nothing wider than a 265 tire.
The tallest tire on those rims would probably be a 255/85/16 and would be my choice if using the stock wheels.

Plan B is some AR Outlaw IIs and better tires. Because they make everything better.

I reserved a base but my biggest issue is gearing. If not SQ, the gear ratio is 3.73.

I would like to put 33s and new wheels. I do not think 3.73 will be great on 33s.

If I am buying a new vehicle I would like it to perform at its best.

This probably means either SQ a base or move up in trim level for me.
