First off, this thread doesn't have anything to do with the #3500 tow rating. I'm fully aware there's nothing you can do to change the number on the door.

The biggest drawback from the class II, that I haven't seen many people talk about, is a mediocre #300-350 max tongue weight. I'm mainly curious if others out there plan on replacing the II with a III or IV class hitch? I'll go bigger, just for the peace of mind. For me personally, I prefer around 15% tongue weight, so any trailer weighing much more than #2,000 will exceed the class II's rating. Anyone else planning on something similar?

I might consider it so it has the same 2" receiver my truck has instead of the 1-1/4.

It was brought up a few weeks back that it would include a class 3 hitch.

Iā€™m not going aftermarket regardless, because they always seem to hang quite a bit lower and screw up the departure angle...they get caught on stuff. I like the factory ones that are tucked up nice and tight.

Pretty sure it already comes with a class III hitch if you get the tow package though. Right?

But even if you upgrade the hitch somehow - my brief look into that for how to upgrade my Jeep to overcome the tiny tongue weight rating all seemed to involving a "local welder dude" which made me give up pretty quick - the official ratings on the door/manual are still going to say 3,500 lbs towing/350 lbs tongue. In case something happens, that seems like too much to risk.

Negative. Class II

Almost positive someone from Ford confirmed that was incorrect and it would have a 2ā€ receiver. Really hoping it is not a class II and does have the 2ā€ receiver so all my hitch accessories donā€™t need adapters.

thanks for digging that up. Iā€™ll dig deeper.

it was confirmed in one of the Q&As w/ Ford and it comes with 2" hitch, which is a class 3 as class 2 is 1.25". It was also in the survey and the bronco I saw in person this weekend was a 2".
