Does anyone know how secure our key fobs are to RF Relay Hacking?

Should we put our fobs in a Faraday Bag if/when we have concerns, or are our Broncos safe?

Several stolen at one time in Edmonton last week.

A faraday bag……. Then wire some to your aux switches perhaps. A guy at my dealers and I are hatching a plan. Also cover up your VIN.

Not much you can do if they have something that grabs and reproduces the RF signal. The programming to start your vehicle is specific to that FOB. You can erase it and program new ones but all the car does is recognize the signal they put off and OK it.

You could remove the battery and use the backup key to open and close the door then put your FOB in the backup "divot" in the bottom of console. Bronco will just bounce a signal off the RFID chip enough to see and allow it to start.

Faraday bags work and are cheap insurance. There are a bunch of different styles availalble on Amazon for $15.

How far from the door should they be to be out of range? Also would it be worth putting something in the Bronco like this in case it does get stolen:

https://www.findmespot.com/en-us/products-services/spot-trace

Or would the vehicle be in a container off to who knows where before there’s a chance to do anything about it?

This is much cheaper, plus the Spot Trace Satellite Tracers are on backorder.
