***happily resolved!***

Rep at the dealership called and said he spoke to GM and he agrees that adding a simple accessory shouldn't penalize a customer who's been waiting oh-so-these-many months for his ride to get built.

They're going to revert back to my previous DORA at the lower base badlands price ($42.5) for the purposes of my build. He'll just order hoop steps separately when the truck shows up.

He DID say 2 things tho -

a) We obviously can't keep that price if things go into 2024 for example... (totally agreed with that - that's more than fair)

b) since I have towing - there's zero chance my order will get pulled before October (not too sure on this one, but sounds 'truthy'...)

SO all in all, good result.

3/24 -

Have a 10/21 order for a BadSquatch and went to the dealership today to add the cool new hoops steps option to the build (my GF is short).

Welp, that kicked everything to MY22.5 and I'm now the future proud owner of $2400 hoop steps.

(Base Badlands MSRP went up $2K between then and now)

Also, the Tube Door option went up $500 ($850 old DORA, $1360 on new DORA) - so dropped those. They're cool, but not sure they're $1360 cool.

Rep said they can't reverse it, and I think due to my order time, I'm not eligible for price protection anyway, (I believe that was for orders before 3/21?) so I guess It's better to cry now than find out in 8+ months or whenever this thing actually shows up.

<sigh>

So, if I am understanding correctly, making any order modifications now is bumping them to MY22.5? Or was that related to specific to that option as it only becomes available in MY22.5?

That's what I'm trying to understand. I'm wondering if I placed an order at the start of '22 before the price increases do I keep the old msrp? But once I try to edit my build it kicks it and applies the price increase?

^^This is exactly what I think happened.

If they go in to your old order, and even if they change nothing and hit "save" I think the system automatically puts in the price increases for MY22.5

My dealer DID promise to honor MSRP - which in this climate is a minor miracle in itself...but I get that they can't honor MSRP for MY21 if my build doesn't happen til MY23 or MY23.5 - they have to honor whatever multi-thousand dollar increase that goes with it.

Yeah, I believe there was a post awhile back stating that if you updated your order after 3/8/2022 (I think 🤔) - That it updates your price to the 22.5 price,

If you have price protection, depending on when you placed your reservation/order then you should be fine.

Or at least that’s what happened to me when I updated mine.

That's my understanding of what happened. Granted, the MY22.5 is when the hoop steps first appeared on the build and price tool - so they may be locked into that new pricing model is my guess.

My original order/res date was mid-february 2022. I think about a week before they announced the new price increase, so no idea if I get protected or it simply applies whatever the price is when I get my vin.

Needless to say, Ford has been great with communication

I don't think you actually will be charged the higher price. If you changed your build you would get the 22.5 pricing. But if its just accessories then you should be fine, they will credit you at time of sale.

It is on like 10 other threads here, along with several internet auto website news reports, and also Ford's website:

FORD FAQ
Will changing my order after March 7, 2022, affect my Bronco's price?
Changing your series, equipment package, the number of doors, or 4x4 system will cause your order to reflect new mid-year price levels. Make sure your order is configured properly prior to the March 7, 2022 cut-off. If your vehicle is not built in the 2022 MY, your new 2023 order will reflect 2023 MY price levels. Final transaction details, including price, will be agreed upon by you and the dealer.

So I asked my dealer if I removed anything on my order if the price would go up. Was told no, then I get a new order summary from Ford with ~$2k increase. Called and was not too happy. Essentially the sales guy didn’t know the mid year price increase. Needless to say they’re going to honor the previous price we agreed upon (MSRP before the price increase) since it was their screw up. I specially said don’t change the order if the price will go up ( I removed the tow package). Your mileage may vary but the sales manager was cool about it and said they’d find a way to fix it even if they have to eat the price change

The way the Granger mid-march update reads I thought it was only switching between base/big bend/black diamond/etc, mid/high/lux, base vs advanced t-case, or 2/4 door. So I'm with you I didn't think adding/removing options would update pricing. Maybe because the hoop steps were a Job 2 update like Hoss 3.0?

Am I able to make edits to my order?

Yes! We are able to make edits to your order, however you are subject to the price increase that has recently been established for 22.5 Model Year Broncos. This is what Ford has relayed to our team,

“Changing the series, equipment package, number of doors, or 4x4 system after March 11, 2022 will cause a customer’s order to update with new mid-year price levels.

I think that's the kicker:

"If your vehicle is not built in the 2022 MY, your new 2023 order will reflect 2023 MY price levels. "

So if it's not build in the next 9 months - you get hit with the higher base price.

I think that's it - the new DORA I have has a Job #2 entry on it - so that must signify the hoop step option being a MY22.5 accessory. I was wondering what that meant...

Thanks, that seems to suggest some risk with changes. I pulled off tow early Feb and added modular bumper. I had been debating the bumper for some time and wasn't completely certain. The next day someone posted a comparison of the capable vs modular and that alleviated my concerns about the capable. I was thinking of swapping back to capable but if there is any risk of price change (or delay) I am not going to do it.

I got a chance to look up and close at the MY2022 capable (standard bumper) and noticed there's no anchor points for a bull bar or really any light mounting spots (other than the built in (foglights?) at the bottom. First order of business after delivery would be new front and rear bumpers... probably from JCR Offroad - JcrOffroad: Bronco Front Vanguard Bumper | 6th Gen (2021+)

I love Addictive Desert Designs...but daaaamn 4-5k for a bumper is...a lot.
