I haven't seen this question but I'm hoping someone knows!!

Is it possible to get rev match for the 7MT without using the Ford Performance tune? It seems like it should be possible if it only unlocks hidden software features.

That’s a good point. I don’t see the benefit of switching over to the Ford tune after running Panda for a year. But, would be interested in testing out that feature. To be honest, with my personal driving habits and the sophistication of the 7MT and 4.46 - I can’t complain. I’ve only driven 70s-80s manuals before this.

I don't get mine till next month so I don't know yet. But from 20 yrs of driving manuals I know I would enjoy downshifting without feathering!!

How do you like the shift knob? I've thought about a weighted knob but I want to drive it before blowing unnecessary money.

I’d hold off on the Boomba knob and wait to see what @EIGHTLUG and Archetype Racing comes up with.

So, I see Engine Rev Matching “Disabled” within APIM Module…I just enabled it. I’m gonna go for a short ride and see if there’s a difference.

Edit: that presumably did nothing. But, perhaps it’s like Global Windows and you need to change it in multiple modules. I don’t have time now - I’ll look further into this later on.

This manual transmission is a dream. I don't know how often you have to Fast and Furious on a daily basis, but I can't see any legitimate advantage to switching the knob. A bit judgemental, but if someone needs rev-matching in a vehicle like this, then maybe they are too lazy for a manual transmission. Give it a couple thousand miles and see if you even notice you're operating a manual transmission; it's so smooth compared to other truck (and many car) transmissions.

I completely agree with you. I honestly don't even know what matching feels like. It was more out of curiosity. I have zero issues on how the entire system operates.

I'm excited to pick it up later this month. I've heard nothing but good things about how smooth it is. But revmatch is still nice on those downshifts

The options exist in FORScan but I haven’t been able to identify all the changes needed to make it work. Was hoping someone with the performance tune would post their modules to do a compare but no luck so far.

It is quite good, and easy enough to rev match yourself, but I could see auto rev matching extending synchro life for less experienced drivers.

Once I get mine I might start direct messaging people in the tune threads asking if they have a manual and if they dabble in forscan. Someone has to meet those criteria.

I agree, the 7MT is a dream and shifts up thru the gears incredibly smoothly - Rev Matching would make shifting down thru the gears incredibly smooth without learning, practicing, practicing, and practicing heal-toe technique or using the “hold in the clutch while you brake for the light ahead and hope it doesn’t turn green… oh crap it did, now I need to figure out what gear to get into to start accelerating again… oh crap, that’s was way too low and my engine is screaming at me” technique. It’s like saying, why does anyone need a synchro in their gearbox (which you won’t find any modern manual trans without), you can just learn to double de-clutch.
