Hi everyone - I am interested in getting the Rigid/Ford Performance roof light bar but am curious if the light bar adds any height to the vehicle when using the lower profile bracket with hard top. It's hard to tell from pictures and also Ford's site doesn't talk about it. Just curious as I am pretty close to the height limit for my garage at work and I dont want to air down to park if I got these lights haha.

My Rigid light bar is about 3/8" lower than my roof.

Hi everyone - I am interested in getting the Rigid/Ford Performance roof light bar but am curious if the light bar adds any height to the vehicle when using the lower profile bracket with hard top. A couple things just FYI.

First, that was a great reply and example photo @nipeej

I am sure that will help many who wonder the same thing.

So many people end up buying the Ford Performance version before realizing there is a difference. After, they get pretty frustrated.
Since you haven't purchased it yet. I wanted to make sure you understood it so you can make a clean and informed decision.

So Ford contracted with Rigid, like they do many companies to build or sell them packaged parts to go under the Ford Performance Catalog.

Sometimes they are the same, and sometimes there are some changes that Ford works out with those manufacturers.

In this case, with Rigid Industries. The Light bar used is Rigid's #240603

https://specialtyperformanceparts.c...1&_sid=3a2ca9afe&_ss=r&variant=37169766924454

That light bar from Rigid, has an RGBW backlight. In other words, a low power secondary backlight. You can change the color to whatever you want. Generally Amber or White. Other colors, especially Red or Blue are most ILLEGAL to drive with. Amber and White are most often not in most states, though some states require a black out cover.

So Ford, to protect themselves? had Rigid REMOVE the backlight. So any of the FORD Performance kits will NOT have any backlights. That includes the 360 Round A-Pillar kits.

What is ironic, is that the box the light bars come in from Ford, are the same ones Rigid puts their retail ones in and they show the backlights on the picture. Even the part number is the same, but Ford also puts their part number sticker below that.

Then to the mounts. These are the same mounts as in the Ford kit.

https://specialtyperformanceparts.c...line-sr-mount-kit?_pos=6&_sid=daaeacc0d&_ss=r

In your link above, you can see Ford now prices their kit at $995.
What's funny is, that is fairly recent. They originally priced it at $1,295 I think? It was more than the Rigid kit? I am guessing as word got out about removing the backlights, and they stopped selling as quickly, they decided to try to get them moving out by lowering the price. I am also guessing they are sitting on the same inventory Rigid already built for them a couple years ago, simply because they just priced it too high originally. Price wise now, they are much more competitive.

So. That said, you can decide if you want to get the backlight or it doesn't matter to you.

Rigid also has an SR Series PRO model light bar kit, with the same mounts for $999.99

https://specialtyperformanceparts.c...ar-included-46724?_pos=9&_sid=903513d69&_ss=r

The SR Pro model is a Spot/Flood Combo. Meaning it has LONG and mid/wide light patterns. The Radiance model (Ford without backlight, or same Rigid but with Backlight) is a WIDE SPOT. So long and a wider beam spot.

The Rigid kit with the Pro produces 25,080 Lumens of light.
The Radiance Models (Main light same for the Ford or Rigid model with backlight) Produces 22,848 Lumens of light.

We also bundled the RGBW Rigid full version together, which is the same as the Ford one again, but WITH the RGBW Backlight.

https://specialtyperformanceparts.c...-with-rgbw-backlight-light-bar-hidden-harness

We did a video on that one here-

We also created a HIGH mount version (Though I am guessing height is an issue for you, so that may not make sense).

Long and short. My main goal here was just to make sure you and others realize that the Ford version eliminates the backlight. If that doesn't matter, then you are all good. If it does, then you know there are options and you can make an informed decision.

Let me know if you have any questions-

Thank you for that post -so informative and I had no idea that it did not have the backlight. I was going to use fordpass points on the FP version but I will have to give it some thought if I want the backlight version. Just curious, does your kit with the radiance sr also include the light covers?

Yeah, I thought you may not have known about the backlight.

That has stirred a lot of controversy really. Frankly, it has frustrated a lot of people. It wouldn't be hard for them to just put a disclaimer on the product page that says "FP Kit does NOT have an RGBW Backlight feature".

It seems a little deceptive given the fact that the box, the picture, and the Rigid part number all are on the same box. So people get frustrated. Often times they don't send it back out of hassle or the fact they did use points.

So I am not saying Ford is intentionally being deceptive. However, they aren't taking proper steps to clarify.

So that's the point right?

Many people use their points for it. At least you can make an informed decision about if it makes sense to use them on that? or something else?

On the covers, they are optional. Most people don't use them.

They are $15 each and you need 4.

https://specialtyperformanceparts.c...sq=105943&_ss=e&_v=1.0&variant=39266307965094

Hope this helps!

And there is nothing wrong with the Ford version if you are OK with not having the backlight and you just want to use points.

If that's a deal breaker for you though, its kind of nice to know. Especially if there was something else you could use those points for....

If you get our kit though, we can probably just throw in the covers if that helps.
