Was hoping for a PHEV with decent payload and towing - I guess the unicorn hunt continues

That looks like it in no way competes with a Jeep or Bronco.
It will compete against the Jeep Compass and Bronco Sport šŸ˜‚

In all reality the Land Cruiser has a lot of retro credibility as an off roader and could be interesting if they really focus on that aspect vs the on road dynamics.

Tacoma is riding around on 2005 underpinnings with a band aid motor about time they did something. Now if they went back to premium denso parts that would be a game changer. Hybrid is just keeping with the times.

Oh look, itā€™s the news that should come to the shock of absolutely no one. Really hoping we can see the hybrid powertrain return decent mpg rather than the mediocre jumps the Sequoia and Tundra had.

Pretty sure Iā€™ve seen Lincoln rank far down on reliability reports so not too shocking their most complex powertrain is their least reliable. Bit disappointing as the Aviator is one of 2 three row SUVs that are PHEVs. The other being the XC90 which I also donā€™t trust much.
No love for the Mitsubishi? Outlander phev. Also Kia sportage is 3 rows phev but only 6 seats (2-2-2)

Always forget about the Outlander PHEV but thatā€™s kinda how it goes for Mitsu nowadays lol. The Sorento Iā€™ve definitely eyed before as itā€™s not terribly expensive either. But thereā€™s so many recalls from the Hyundai company the Telluride / Pallisade V6 seems to have the only engine truly free of problems at the moment.

Now why couldn't Ford do that? They designed the base technology that Toyota's hybrids are built on.
uhhhhhhh

The regenerative brake tech that the Priuses used came from the Ford semi trucks. Toyota bought rights to that, and used US grants to further develop a better hybrid while Ford & GM scoffed at it.
