Rock chip on hood

Just noticed this today. No idea how it happened. I don't remember the hood getting hit by anything while driving. Looking for the best way to get it fixed. I've had the truck for less than a year and have already had a bunch of warranty issues that all got fixed finally - now this.

damn that aggressive. it needs to be prepped and re painted, a lot of times they paint the entire hood over though so it all blends right, so $$ will def be more.

if you dont care, you can always get touch up paint to tone it down a bit.

Not sure thats a rock / debris hit, more like a parking gate or something was set n pushed on your hood.

Time for a new AFC hood!!!.

It's so new that I do care. Would be different if it were an older car. I still haven't hit 10k miles on it yet.

Is this something that comprehensive insurance would usually cover?

I hear you, I'm not sure about insurance, but I am leaning toward probably no, just because it was a rock on the road, and the hood isn't a safety thing like windshield.

If it were me, I would touch that up and try to smooth it out, then wrap the hood.

What part of the hood is it on? Someplace a bug deflector would cover up? Those are not my favorite looking things but without them or some good PPF the front of the hood will for sure get plenty of chips in it.

Not that this will fix your current issue, but you may want to consider a hood deflector to help with future potential rock chips.

If it was me that's a call to my SF agent. That hood needs a paint pro to fix it. "Good" news is that it's just the one panel and doesn't appear to have any significant sheet metal damage. Definitely sucks but that's why we have insurance.

Front of the hood. I'm not sure PPF would have prevented this. I's pretty deep.

That's not a chip...that's a gash! I would try to touch it up yourself and smooth it out.

Bronco is probably totaled now.

Wow, that is gnarly. I got a chip on my hood too and it hit my windshield right after.
The chip wasn't bad but is noticeable.
I just put some touch up paint on it. The chip is still there but looks better with the touch up.

An option is adding a decal. My chip was right on the lifted part near the windshield.
I have a badlands so I've though of getting a graphic similar to the ones that the Wiltrak get. See link below of the one I have looked into. It would cover my chip and look oem.
Obviously it would only work if its on the raised part of the hood. You could also look into other graphics that cover your area. There are a lot of different graphic options for the bronco.
Would be a lot cheaper than a full repaint.
