Says they are mounted in the wheel wells? isnt that a bad place to put them because the tires would block them?

How much of a pain would it be to install RGB aftermarket lights instead?

Anybody know anything about these things (ridged rock lights)?

I wouldn't buy them from Ford. If you get the BD model or up, it will have a rocker set of switches on the ceiling that is pre-wired to different locations around the vehicle. Should technically be very easy for you to add lights after the fact.

They are not wired to different places around the vehicle. They are wired to a bus under the hood.

That's where rock lights go.

Really? I thought they pre-ran connectors to different spots around the vehicle? Either way, I'll take that bus spot under the hood too.

I would think installation is definitely part of that price, just like the other accessories. Explains why it's rather high but then again I would rather they do it then me.

I looked at these last night on Amazon, total cost for the kit $39.99-$59.99 that are RGB and phone app compatible. If you have the AUX switches and have wired a stereo system or two in your time it's a no brainer IMHO.

Yea, it's not like everyone is going to have the same choice of accessories or locations. It's just a box under the hood so you don't have to go through the trouble of running wires through the firewall yourself. The rest is up to the individual.

Everyone needs to order the (“auxiliary switches”)prewired factory switches, in my F250 they are called “upfitter” switches. It makes wiring up any accessory super convenient. Trust me, get the switches! I agree with above, just get the rock lights aftermarket. Ford if you’re reading this...Make “auxiliary switches/upfitter switches” standard on all trucks!

Do you know what rock lights are actually for? They don't need to be big.

Any quality name brand unit will be fully weather sealed.

This greatly depends on the mood of your Sales Advisor and relationship with Internal Service Writer.

When I worked @ BMW, I saw them get away with charging for a damn front license plate bracket install.

sidenote and not a dig: OP if you have to ask about rock lights, you probably don’t need them. I’d wait until you’re actually out on the trails to reevaluate. shit - more than half the accessories they’re upselling is not stuff anyone really needs to get out and have fun. No need to get hung up on it.

If you get the aux switches this is simple to wire up yourself or you can buy an aftermarket switch pod like s-pod. I would recommend getting these on your own for a couple of reasons. First, this is way high on cost compared to doing it yourself, and secondly you can place them exactly where you want with as many lights as you want. I plan on using 8 of the kc cyclone lights wired into the aux switches. I dont care about them changing colors so I'm going with white. I also have no need for them to have Bluetooth
