Not a bad idea and non permanent you don't have it on all the time getting rusty.
I would do this before putting gas on the roof or in back directly exposed to a hit from a car.
Worst wreck I ever saw was a rear end at a light and the truck had a full Jerry can in the back tire.

Very good points. Only strap it on when going off roading

I’ve been thinking about picking this up as well. I was hoping to be able to mount over the side windows on the clamshell but this could be the simplest solution and very easy to remove when not in use.

I've been thinking about this as well. It can be removed when not in use as well. The only thing with it is you have to remove the rear brake light when installed. Not sure how easy that would be.

I was going to do this but had a couple concerns:

1) added weight to the tailgate door and how it would hold up.
2) with the fuel container seemingly right up against the door handle, wouldn’t that prevent operation of the tailgate?

I could always stack 2 on the right but just had some thoughts. The tire shelf is awesome though.

Yuuuuup - great product & terrific solution. I have used on on my JKU but haven’t strapped it on my Bronco yet however, I have confirmed that it does fit!

Nice. You always carry 2 fuel or do you mix it up?

Yes, 2 x 2 gallon fuel containers on the outside. Water and First Aid on the inside.
