So after the Q&A i saw this. Im new to the offroad scene and want to get into overlanding like with a tent on top of the car or maybe a cage that will hold tons of stuff. However this concerned me

I weigh more than 110lbs lol. What exactly do these numbers mean? can the roof really not store anything over 110lbs? I feel like im confused.

The weight limit while driving(dynamic) is 110 pounds, the static rating is 450. I was hoping for more, but my Escape’s rating is only 40 pounds.

but what does this mean? if you are more than 110 pounds the roof flies off on the highway?

That is disappointing. 110lbs will exclude most tents over 2 person.

Are you planning on being on being on the roof while your car is driving down the highway? It’s probably rated that to prevent rollover.

If you’re driving and you lock your breaks, get hit etc, anything over 110lbs runs the risk of breaking the rack according to the ford legal team. 450 static means it can support about two adults in a roof top tent that is up mounted up top and parked in your campsite.

Would like to hear more on this in the future as I also have a RTT on my LR4 that I would want to switch over to the bronco.

for reference, I believe the LR4 rating 165pounds.
But my front runner rack on that same roof is 600pound limit.

I have had over 400pounds on That roof dynamic, with zero issues. 130k miles

ah okay thank you. So it just means the thing can break off in extreme cirumstances over 110lbs but it can hold up to 400lbs without the roof caving in?

Just saw this info myself and am very disappointed. Planned on using that rack for work.

2 person tent and cargo will not fly. Sad to hear this. I wonder if there’s a difference (given distribution) with the 4D.

This is way too low for me, hopefully Rhino Rack makes a rack to fit the bronco, similar what I have on my wrangler so I can mount my rooftop tent.

I guess that rules out putting my Hobie PA 14 kayak up there. Disappointing.

Yeah this rack as is wont even work for me and my tent and a bottle of water alone. But I think like most factory racks its weak for various dumb reasons. And the aftermarket will definitely have a better system. I know the accessory mounts by the mirrors are likely for lights. However if a rack mounts there and on the windshield frame maybe that will add a few hundred pounds capacity. They just cant sell it standard.

I'm not sure it's a "rack" limit vs a roof load limit. The modular roof accepts the mounting of the rack in the rear and the A-frame has the front. Not sure how aftermarket is going to improve the load limit on those two points to increase the loading of the rack system.

aftermarket roof system that has different load points, maybe. That's a whole new roof tho.
