A perfect example of how a gimmicky product can corner a market...
But the stuff is just poorly, POORLY engineered! It's way over priced, "look at my cool gear" crap...

So I bought a pair of 1 gallon water jugs a few years back.
Today I bought the L-bracket mount, standard pax mount and extention mount...
The L-bracket, despite giving you 8 mounting holes for the pax mount, can only be used with the can mounted horizontally! Like WTF were they thinking? The L-bracket is simply not tall enough.
Design oversight?? Big time!
And this is without even any mounting hardware on the bracket yet!
And just to put a finer point on design, WTF is with the carrying handle?? I MIGHT be able to fit 2 fingers in there. Not comfortably though. God help anyone who has to carry full cans any amount of distance.
This is mounting inside my Bronco on the back of my cooler slide-out. Having the cans laying on their side takes up precious space in a 2 door!
Oh, and here is the best part....
The jug, I forget what I paid for them, but today they are $60 + 13% tax each... (Canada)
The mounting hardware was $180 with tax...
So $315 for 2 gallons of water storage 👍🏻👍🏻

You bought it though, right? Great marketing.
Much of the stuff on the market looks great driving around town, and seems to be selling well. Actual usefulness is another matter.

Oh yeah, they don't even need to market them! Just turn on YouTube...
Well, I'll tell you, they won't make an appearance in any of my videos. Not for free!
😀

Those finger holds are indeed a joke. No one is going to be able to carry them anywhere fully loaded. The cost of the mounting brackets is way too much. Thanks for pointing this out, as I will try to find a different solution.

I've had a 3.5gal randomly pissing diesel all over my bed for a couple years. Finally took it out and threw it in the garage. Pretty sure it's the seal in the cap, but don't care enough to find out.

Edit: Wonder if your mount was designed around the Kolpin FuelPaks instead of the Rotopax.

If it was mine, I would just use the upper diagonal slots. You may need to open them up a bit to work. I don’t understand the handle on the jug however.

I bought the bracket straight from Rotopax 🤷

Sure, it's fixable... But for the money....!? How can this be an oversight? Nothing they sell in a jug can be mounted on an angle, nor vertically.... And DEFINITELY anything bigger than a gallon would have to go vertically....
So they punch the back of the bracket just to make it look cool? Save weight? Lol

Some stuff is not designed/engineered for actual use but for looking cool while never actually using it for its supposed purpose.
And you usually pay a premium for it. Lol. Sheesh...

Ironically, the FuelPak brackets (PN for kit: Kolpin 89465) might work better, but you'll have to dremel some material since the can mount holes are slightly smaller than the Rotopax. I run a dual can setup on my Sportsman 800, mostly because I replaced the Kolpin toolbox fuel packs with that 3.5gal Rotopax (dumb) and had them kicking around.

This is exactly why I have resisted buying things for my Bronco. I have installed a Curt hitch which I use for hitch capabilities and not towing. It works perfectly for my needs. It is one thing when most of these add ons are of lousy quality or only work for a short period, but the prices are absolutely unreal. Hope you get it figured out in your favor.

I wonder how many litres of Frappuccino one could store in that... You may be onto something!

I'd love to know the percentage of vehicles you see driving around town kitted out for a full Dakar Rally ever actually touch dirt.
