I might be naive, but I have not seen significant gains with intakes in various street cars (key word, street cars). High flow filters have shown similar gains as a full on SRI or CAI.
Agreed, past experiences w/ cold air intakes can't confirm any significant HP gain however I have seen a 1 to 3MPG increase in fuel economy. Not much but I'll take it.

Im not cheap or nothing, but until I start modding, why not save $$$ and get a KN filter?

A KN filter would certainly improve filtration for cheap money however a complete cold air intake designed/engineered specifically for the 2.3/2.7 and claiming significant increase in HP is worth the look IMO which is why I started the thread...looking for any input from those that have actually tried one.

Would a supercharged, intercooled engine benefit in any way from a cold air intake?

It seems extremely dubious to me.

I say that any increase in performance would only be from the reduced weight in the driver's wallet.
First, our engines are turbo charged, not supercharged.

Second, years ago I owned a twin turbo BMW 335 with full bolt ons and stage 2 Cobb Tune. With that vehicle, yes absolutely a cold air intake will have an added benefit to a turbo car. In fact an intake/exhaust combo on a turbo car will have a dramatic improvement vs on a standard NA car. On the Bronco, the turbos are going to be building boost more efficiently for sure and should result in some decent real world gains.

Running 93 and a tune will take it to another level, but standard gas and an intake/exhaust combo should absolutely result in some gains on this turbo engine.

I owe you a beer for all that. Normally Im all performance parts first, no matter what, but due to the lack of info and parts, Im addressing other areas like lighting and stuff first

whipple has an intercooler, but no charge pipes, while KN has their own CAI that shows more than a micro image, so waiting for more from Roush. Think personally, waiting til feb before I order something for the engine besides the catch can, since I want to really see options out there.

at least things are happening
