So I installed the RTR grille and the DRL's are not working right and it has me stumped.

1. Yes I know the truck has to be in gear for them to activate.

2. They do come on when the headlights are on either through auto switching or by switching the headlights on manual and in the correct low dimmed down setting and only when in gear. So the DRL's do work and have power.

3. They do NOT come on at all when the headlights are off though with the truck in gear. Not in auto headlight mode or when switched to running lights only.

I'm at a loss here. There is nothing to wire wrong on the install. RTR provides plug play patch harness that plugs into the headlight harness... and they do work with headlights turned on... just not with them off.

Thoughts ???

Only thing I can think is an error in the headlight patch harness ? On both sides ?

Officially stumped...

That is the way they are supposed to function. I messaged them about a year ago with the same question.

I don't know. The instructions say they should be on in Bright mode with headlights off and then dim with headlights on.

I had the same question and bright mode is when you have your park/fog lights only on and dim is when the headlights on. They do not come on with your drl at all.

Correct. That is what is not working. With running lights on nothing happens. They only come on with the headlights in dim mode..... I had originally thought they come on with the DRL's as well, but the instructions state otherwise at the end of the install instructions.... but nothing happens when I turn the headlight switch to running lights. Frustrating. I double checked all the connectors last night and everything is plugged in and seated correctly.

I have an email into RTR for help as well....

Making a little progress by finding the headlight schematics and pin layout here and looking at the harness adapter RTR provides.

For some weird reason the orange wire going to "Park Front" pin on the plug has a connector on it that was not connected. There is nothing in the grille install instructions about the mystery orange wire on the harness adapter so I left it alone and zip tied it out of the way.

Looks like this wire needs to be connected for the park light function to work.

After seeing this I'm wondering if I can just connect the wire for dim light mode currently going to the "Beam Low" pin to the "Daytime Running Light" pin and have them on all the time with the DRL's in dim mode ? This should work, right ?

Thank you @RTR Vehicles .

For those interested see the attached PDF for the supplemental "Gen-II always on" wiring install for the RTR grille lights. I was wondering what the secondary mystery long harness was for....

Success !!!

I wired up the ARB bumper clearance lights to the new switched wire RTR has you run, so they now come on all the time as well. Looks awesome

@RTR Vehicles, forget the Mode 1 or Mode 2 wiring option. This is how everyone wants and expects these lights to work.

So Mode II is what I need to follow to have the same result as you?
