Electrification in this context ...

"...will get either plug-in hybrid or battery-electric drivetrains in the next couple of years."

Duh? Didn't they tell us that like 5+ years ago, and we're still not there?

This seems more indicative of the overall strategy ...

"...not only an off-road brand."

They're not only an off road brad already (try taking your Trackhawk through Moab or whatever), soo ... whatever.

Clickbait title is clickbait.

If they don't they will fall behind.
For every hardcore wheeler there are a dozen 'culture' drivers.
THOSE dozen other people want way better gas mileage and the same appearance.
Off-Roading is secondary. Important. But, secondary.
Exactly! And the sooner people realize this hopefully they will stop complaining but I won’t hold my breath lol

Keep hearing about the explosion of pure electrics, but even this May, 2019 forecast

"Electric vehicle (EV) sales should hit 2.7 million in 2019 even as the broader auto market declines (paywall)."

https://qz.com/1620614/electric-car-forecasts-are-all-over-the-map/

Is probably not going to hold up, since global sales were only 1.7 million as of aug/sep
(Tesla didn't post Sep sales yet). Might eek out a small gain worldwide, but US EV sales
are not going to meet even last years.

https://insideevs.com/news/343998/monthly-plug-in-ev-sales-scorecard/

I guess Model Y sales might explode, but beyond that, what other pure EV is
going to get even the defunct Ford Fusion numbers?

I’m all for hybrid powertrains, IF they are power adders and do not derate the gas engine. For example; Lincoln Aviator, Rav-4 Prime, potential Bronco.

I’m no sold on 100% bev’s yet. I will be closely
Watching the bev F-150 and Rivian R1T/R1S.

EV's, what a joke

If the free market had a say without Uncle (Sam) interfering and the media pushing them, they would of ended shortly after they started
