I was told that the refresh will restrict the 2.7 to the Wildtrack, but not that it was being eliminated completely. Part of the refresh will involve eliminating superfluous trims, and creating greater differentiation between the remaining ones, that was a big focus.

Having to pay $62K to get anything other than a 4-banger, sounds like a sure-fire way to keep dealership lots full, not that I'd expect an intelligent decision from Farley

I've thought from the get-go, they should've combined every trim that shares a grill. Base & Black Diamond, Big Bend & Outer Banks, Badlands & Wildtrak. 1st one is no frills to offroad focused, 2nd is where you're mostly looking for nicer creature comforts with extra tech, & the last just has everything.
I do hope they keep the 2.7, I've definitely enjoyed it myself. Plus the longer it's around, the more aftermarket support there'll be.

I would say that it's not clear that fossil fuel needs to go since there is no solution that addresses the problem that plague the other technologies YET. Maybe it's true in California, but certainly not throughout the United States. When another technology suitably, reliably, and affordably exists, then it might be clear. Either way, fossil fuels and other petroleum products are not going away any time soon.
what “other technologies“ do you speak of?

I feel like the goal is to make private ownership unaffordable and push the majority of people into mass transit for most travel and subscription services to fill in the gaps. Something like autonomous taxis that you summon with an app when needed, cutting the total number of cars on the road to a fraction.
I’d vehemently disagree with you, but if one puts on their tinfoil hat and looks at what we did as a country/world during Covid, you’re spot on. Not trying to get political, just pointing out that some people will follow. Bronco owners, not so much!

They/Them were talking about hydrogen powered vehicles too.
hydrogen vehicles are proven technology…Toyota Mirai plus there are many bus, utility & delivery fleets using them (even a train going online in San Diego)…the problem is fueling infrastructure (someone could make some money on that)…and of course government “will” plus the petroleum lobby…

until something official from Ford comes out we are really only discussing rumors and speculation here.
Welcome to B6G! I think we have an introduction thread for new members!

That's the smart assed way to say --- discussing rumors and speculation is/was the meat and potatoes of B6G. LOL!

This has probably been one of the more engaging threads since, ehhh probably the 2022 model year opened up. There was a shit ton of drama all the way until the very end of the 21 run ... "will my FE get built this year???? "

Finally, something better than the ADV shitshow thread. LOL!

With an already over taxed power grid
The grid that historically "sleeps at night" is going to be "the grid that peaks at night".

The electrical construction industry is deeply concerned about this right now, which pales in comparison to the concern in the electrical utility industry.

It seems like every major project is requiring massive upgrades to the utility feeders and nearest sub-stations.

We simply do not have the manpower to overhaul/upgrade the entire grid in the timelines the politicians are spewing out.
There are not enough electricians, equipment or materials.

Yesssssss revival of the Ford straight-six!! I'm down.

Ford 300cu straight-six is probably my favorite Ford engine of all time. Was available it on the old 3rd, 4th, and 5th gen Broncos.

Granted the 2.3L EcoBoost stomps on that 300cu engine. BUT... hear me out... put a turbo on it!! Zoom zoom.
What did Mazda do for their new CX-90?? Inline 6 turbo…. Who owns Mazda?

You're not wrong, but they'll also NEVER do it if they're not pushed.

The only problem with this is that you'd actually have increase the amount of cars on the road for it actually work.

Doing some napkin math, you'd need at least 3-4 vehicles to replace 1.

Let me explain-

1 vehicle going to a pickup point
1 vehicle traveling with passengers to their destination
1 vehicle returning from its destination
1 extra vehicle for possible maintenance issues for the other 3.

Mass transit doesn't even work in a densely populated state like mine-I live about 15 miles from work with zero options for a bus or whatever to get there.
