Agree with the others in the thread. Winches are great, but a good kinetic rope can do amazing things in pulling out of mud. This summer my Jeep pulled my buddy's 72 Bronco out of mud almost over his wheel wells. It's just science, the stretch on the rope creates a ton of pull energy. Look up some youtube videos with kinetic rope (aka bubba rope).

Yup, but it means you have to wheel with friends or other nut cases. Winches are great when you are by yourself. But what fun is wheeling by yourself?
