I have several Dirt Mountain t-shirts and a bunch of stickers. Those were the days!Make sure we include something about Dirt Mountain on the shirts because most all Broncos in the valve recall also did time on the mountain.
21209 for me as wellOct 21 here. 21209 Julian date, you know, the exact day with the most failures. Still running fine at 41,000 miles with the FPP tune
An engine quitting does not of itself cause an accident. You still have brakes and you still have steering even if you loose the power assist. Brakes maintain power assist after an engine outage unless you pump the brakes then you eventually loose the assist. Engines quitting used to be a farily common occurance on old carburated cars, nobody considered it anything more than a major inconvenience. Of course blood thirsty ambulance chasers see dollar signs and it gives them ammunition to go after the deepest pockets. Its also the same reason why body shops refuse minor work without replacing any chassis part that may be scratched. I had this happen. I wanted to replace only the bumper cover, but because the crash bar had a tiny scratch they wouldn't do it.I was just looking for your opinion. However, if any of our members do have a legal back ground, I would welcome their opinion as well.
It can be a very different story when off-roading and don't have a bunch of excess vacuum for braking assist or having the engine quit at a critical moment on a trail. Granted, 99% of the time, it's just an inconvenience... But there are some times when it's not.An engine quitting does not of itself cause an accident. Loss of motive power.....haaaa. My experience was more like "Silence, followed by every warning error available popping up on the dash, followed by massive cumulous clouds of vaporized coolant as all liquids exited via hot exhaust"....luckily I was ablel to coast down my exit ramp and into a gas station before I stopped it.Yay for me
This. The engine code is easy to see, and it will be "AB" if you've been replaced with the 2022 version. My Ford Pass shows a recall notice, I guess because the repairing dealer simply put "Engine/Other" in the service record when they replaced my motor.Right we're talking dropped valve failures with higher mileages as the years go by
In your case they already replaced your engine in summer of '22. So your new engine certainly has the new valves and -AB engine I would think. No problems. Your inclusion in the Recall list must be based on your original 21169 engine build date. When Ford realises they already replaced your engine they'll probably give you the "All Clear". If it's running well I'd just leave it alone. You're all set. Just tell Ford to clear the Recall off your VIN because they already replaced the engine
What's the engine build date on your new engine ?
I would think it's one of the new -AB series
Well pulling the heads involves pulling the whole engine. I'm assuming Ford will find a way to do an inspection that isn't that intrusive.This. I'm wondering if they can pull the heads and do a mag flux test on the valves to check for stress cracks as the inspection? Boroscope via spark plug hole?
Curious...how can you tell if you have the -AB engine? Thank you.Right we're talking dropped valve failures with higher mileages as the years go by

It’s on the engine serial number label.Curious...how can you tell if you have the -AB engine? Thank you.
The valves were fixed a little before the part number change. But yes, if you have the newer looking tag, then your engine should be safe from this recall for sure.Early '21 when they started production the original 2.7L part# was MB3E-6007-AA. Then around December '21 they transitioned to the newer part# MB3E-6007-AB with the new valves and new cylinder heads
Not worried about the new engine, by the time mine was ordered all of the bad ones should have been purged. Just went and looked for the build date and can't find it now. Just to guess though, probably June or July '22.Right we're talking dropped valve failures with higher mileages as the years go by

Sounds like a replay of mine, no warning, no noise, just lots of lights, massive coolant cloud and no locomotion. Barely at above idle as I was just pulling away from a green light and traffic was backed up. I just helped back it up more.Loss of motive power.....haaaa.
