Be very careful. I just got scammed by someone that must have had a hacked ID. I sent the $ (yes dumb) and now the used is listed as banned and hacked account. This is after I had done the transaction. Id stick to only in person transactions now.

the forum has seen a rash of these recently.

Pay attn to the user ID and activity. I had someone who I believe was a hacked account post on a thread they wanted to buy what I was selling, but they were many states away, and then they put their cell phone in the main thread. multiple red flags. I looked at their post history, and while the member account was certainly a good looking account, there had been zero activity on it in lik e9 months, final red flag. As the seller sure I could have said yes and taken the money, but I'm sure it would've been the "here's a check for more than the amount" scam. So be aware, and watch both sellers and buyers can be scams.

While I absolutely LOVE Zelle, that's it's only drawback. Once you send the money it's gone. That's why they ask you to verify that you're sure you want to send the money.

Always use PayPal Goods & Services for online purchases like this. There's a small fee, but both buyer and seller are protected against these kinds of things. You can file a dispute directly through PayPal, and they will investigate and give you your money back. Always take screen shots of conversations, emails, ect. just for extra precaution.

I think with something like Zelle once you send your money, it's gone.

I’ve noticed these guys always put the price in bold and will usually include shipping. They use terminology such as “waiting to confirm.” I had this happen to me. I used PayPal goods and services, the guy got mad and sent me my money back. You can believe he wasn’t getting my money after he asked me to send it over again.

Sorry you got caught up in the scam… he tried to get me to pay with Zelle as well. I requested a phone call to verify a few things and he said he had no time to call. That was enough of a red flag for me.

I got scammed on a rifle scope mount, $125, a couple years back. The red flags were there, but I had gotten complacent. Lesson learned.
