Seat Back Net - Anyone replace or repair it yet?

I took some pics of the elastic strap the "Interior Parts Expert" at the dealership said goes from the back of the seat to the front, which requires the "Interior Parts Expert" to remove the seat.

It appears to me it only goes about 3-4 inches under the seat.

I think they just want to drive your Bronco

if you dont trust the the dealer go to a different one. it's a warranty fix. Let them deal with it.

I was monkeying around in my Bronco and realized the driver's side has black shock cord and the passenger side is orange.

I did get it fixed under warranty.

The first time the dealer ordered the part and it arrived in two weeks or less. Then when installing it the dealer broke the tabs on the seat back insert.

They had to order another seat back insert. This one took TWO months to come in. They fixed it without breaking it the second time.

FYI...I think the part costs over $400. I still can't believe this is the fix for the "cargo net/cord" on the seat back. What a poor design for a wear part.

Bottom line: NEVER break the net or cord!!!

How did this all shake out. I want to remove backseat netting altogether and maybe just do molle storage bag. Netting is garbage and I already had netting tear on side door. Replaced with aluminum molle sleeve.

I was able to change my Badlands net cord from yellow to red by unscrewing the back. At that point, I had to cut the top 2 melted plastic tabs in order to pull the outer plastic away from the seat, far enough to access where the cord is attached. It is hooked on by a metal rod which can be bent out to release the cord. BE CAREFUL AS THE PLASTIC ON OUTERSEAT ISN'T SUPER STRONG.

You can then attach the new cord by thin wiring. (I used picture frame hanging wire). Once it is threaded through the netting you can put it all together. Instead of drilling from the outside, I used self-drilling screws. First I drilled a small pilot hole and then screwed it in to test. It takes a #6 - 1/2 inch screw perfectly. I unscrewed it and pushed the plastic through the hole and then put the screw in from inside the seat secured by a 1/8 in x 1 in washer. I used my hand to screw it in mostly and then finished tightening with a socket wrench. After that, just screw in the back cover once again.

Thank you for posting this, super helpful! I'm going to tackle this one of these weekends as I cant stand the orange. What size is the bungee you ordered? I assume the 1/16th?

I actually just used 12 inch ball bungee cord from my local Kroger and cut the ball off. Its the perfect size. I used a lighter to melt the cut ends to make somewhat of an anchor and also prevent future shredding.
