I loved driving my 1994 Ranger 4x4 with the 5 speed and my 72 Bronco with the AX-15 conversion but I'm starting to think that with the manual in the new Bronco I will be missing out on some cool new 4x4 technology like trail turn assist and one pedal driving. The 2.7 with auto is starting to pull at me. Thoughts...

Iā€™ve preferred a manual transmission since I learned to drive it. With this application though, it would be a 2.7L EcoBoost that would be driving my decision on going Autoā€”for now.

When I started to do my research on the Bronco I wanted the 2.3 and manual. I now want the 2.7 with a manual, but that is not happening for now. So it is a 2.7 and auto.

I get bored with vehicles really easily and a truck or SUV generally doesn't have a "fun to drive" factor. I'm thinking the manual will keep me from getting bored as quick and have a fun factor that the auto just won't have.
Not to mention, the 10 speed auto is designed specifically with one thing in mind which is fuel mileage. It wants to get into the highest gear as quickly as possible. Sport mode should help though.

I am seriously torn between 2.7L or 7MT. Sasquatch you can work around, and may be better off doing so. No 2.7 w MT is a real downer.

It is Manual or bust for me. Been without a manual for 18 months and I am about to kill someone out of neglect, tuned out driving.

You either have to have a manual or you donā€™t. Those who are ambivalent about it will most likely order the auto, which makes sense. I would not even be considering the Bronco if manual wasnā€™t an option.

Time to give it up

I've been manual my whole life but it's just silly to keep it up at this point

Manuals used to be faster, more efficient, cheaper
Not really the case anymore

I'm not doing extra work shifting in order to have a slower and less efficient car. At this point buying the manual is just being a grumpy old person who complains about the music kids listen to these days

I reserved a BL MT because I do like manuals. The dedicated crawl gear and 4.7 gear ratio also sound awesome. But the more I've thought about it, I too am starting to lean towards the 2.7 auto. Basically, I figure you're never going to regret having more power, but there's a good chance you will regret having too little power. Also, some of those gimmicky features do seem fun. Trail Turn Assist seems like a cool party trick to show everybody when you're out on the trails. I don't really see myself using the Trail Control often but I could see some situations where it might be handy. Also, it seems like the 2.7 is a better engine. It was designed from the ground up to be a turbo motor whereas the 2.3 was retro-fitted to be a turbo. Ultimately, it will probably come down to total price and fuel economy. It will be interesting to see what the EPA rating will be on these now that Ford has been called out for artificially inflating their EPA ratings on the Ranger and F-150.

No second thoughts here. I am actually starting to think that if they Mansquatch it for us I may just go down to base model. Just to get a more pure feeling with as little nannies as possible.

Is it fun enough to get worse mpg and a slower truck?
Not talking about the 6 either

The slushbox 4 will be faster and more efficient than the manual

Sure shifting is fun, but if you can't do it better than the machine then what's the point? None of us can shift better than the machine anymore
