The ford sliders didn’t really offer much protection at all….I did order and try another brand but they weren’t much better and I wasn’t a fan. Most of the ones I like have ridiculous lead times so I broke out the bender and came up with my own. I had everything on hand in my shop except the uhmw

1.75 dom
1/8 aluminum
1/4-20 tube tabs
Black .25 uhmw
Raptor liner

Hahaa. I’m a good electrician trying to learn to be a good fabber! ……I should have, but not gonna lie it’s a lot of work compared to just bolting something on. I do enjoy it tho.

Looks great. How much room do you have between the slider and body? I put rails on my stock sliders and the whole thing flexed upwards over an inch and kissed my rocker when I landed on the rail bouncing off a rock. Just something to be aware of.

I left a tad bit of room expecting some flex.(but wanted as tight as possible too) I did add some gussets to the brackets to help resist flexing….we shall see how it works out. In the driveway jumping on them and putting the jack under them they seem solid but we both know rocks seem to put force on stuff that can’t be duplicated in the driveway. If I have issues I have some ideas on how to make them stronger but i am trying to avoid ending up with 50lbs sliders…..with all that being said I don’t plan on driving my brand new 22 bronco threw a boulder field like a rock bouncer. I like to push what it can do but I do know it’s limits…I have a 68 on tons and 40s and a full tube Suzuki buggy for trails and obstacles that my new bronco has no business on. Lol

Thanks. Yeah I’m in southern Colorado in Pueblo west…just far enough away from the craziness but close enough I can drive up that way for work.

NICE JOB! Counter sunk flat head hex sockets!!! Trick!

I like the "fabrication sandles" in photo #2 ! Ahhh, the feel of molten slag getting between your big toe and the shoe.... I generally end up doing my fabrication work in bare feet, I find it more challenging....

Thanks. Yeah I’m definitely not the poster child for proper fabrication attire. I often wear, sandals, shorts and a tank top in the summer. I’ve learned to keep my feet out the way but sometimes pay the price. Hahaa
