I'm thankful to everyone that present their ideas and how to's.
I watched videos and read a lot of installations for adding the Kicker Key amps to Broncos. I learned quite a bit, most important was where the fasteners are on the trim pieces so I didn't break any of the tabs off.
Not that anyone cares but I took a different approach than most. This isn't a 'how to' post just one to show another method of thought. I installed the 200.4 above the glove compartment on a thin strip of wood left over from a shop project. Tie wrapped it in place so it is secure but can be easily accessed if the need ever arises.
The Kicker 500.1 was installed under the rear passenger seat. I fed the power wire from the driver's side wiring channel and the input from the passenger side. Cut little notches in the raceway to allow the trim pieces to fit normally. Ran the wires under the carpeting and fed them out of the access hole for the seat brackets. Not secured yet but velcro tape would be more than adequate to get the job done.
The 10" subwoofer is in a downward facing enclosure that is sturdy enough for me to stand on. This makes it great for stacking stuff on it with no chance of damage to the speaker. The sub is easily removable if the need for extra space ever arises.
I plan to keep this rig for a very long time but this installation method leaves the truck basically unchanged from it's stock condition, at least as far as extra holes drilled anywhere is concerned. However there are 3 small holes where the component tweeters for the kick panel speaker are installed on the grab bar handles. Grab bars are easily replaced.
The crossovers modules are behind the kick panel speakers.
Per instructions the Kicker Key setup was ran without the subwoofer running.
After the setup was completed the dash speakers were wired in at the amp INPUT, not output, (the dash speakers are fed by the stereo not the amp.)
This setup keeps the dash speakers from over-powering the larger kick panel speakers.
Parts:
4-4" JL C2 400x speakers
2-300hz bass blockers for dash speakers
2-6.5" JL C2 650 component speakers
Kicker Key 200.4
Kicker Key 500.1
Pioneer 10" shallow mount sub
Not audiophile quality but big improvement over the stock sound system for a modest investment.
