Shipping Cost of Bronco?

Have we seen any explanation why the shipping of the Bronco is higher than the Ranger? Both are from the same factory. The Bronco is $1495.00 while the Ranger is only $1195.00 Just something new to talk about. Any ideas???

They could fit more 2 doors on a train and truck also.

Ranger Width (without mirrors) 77.8 in.
Bronco Width (without mirrors) 75.9 in.

Bronco is actually not as wide as the Ranger. I was totally off there.

Yeah....I was thinking more size as in length (than weight)...as far as how many could fit onto a train and truck. But weight makes sense too. 2 door is almost equal in weight. Just something to talk about...

It's all mostly based on weight when they ship. But size is also a factor. Maybe they charge the same for a 2 door because the price is averaged out for all of the Bronco line in their shipping agreements.

Could be the $1195 for the Ranger was set during initial contract with carriers years ago before COVID caused transportation issues. Would also think that the $1495 was set during the middle of the pandemic when Ford and transportation companies thought the delays would be transitory and over sooner. If the carriers had known what we know now I'm sure we would be looking at $1795-1995 delivery charge.

The funny thing is that you would pay the same whether the vehicle is delivered to a dealer a couple miles away in Detroit or hauled to San Diego. It's just auto industry standard practice.

People seem to assume that the destination fee is an honest representation of the shipping cost. It's not. It's an extra profit center for the vehicle manufacturer. The likely explanation for the difference is that the Bronco is a higher demand vehicle and people are willing to pay the higher price. That applies to the vehicle as well as the shipping.

Who knows? Not me. Mine came on a truck, direct from Michigan to Nashville TN. Same price as one that goes from a truck to a train to a truck to the dealer.

Open a shipping company and see what it costs you. Most use two trucks and a train to get delivered.

I'm guessing they have a supply chain pool, where every dealership has the same cost to have some equality across the country. Yes, it's kind of shitty for the dealership closest to MAP, however the one up in Alaska or Hawaii is getting a sweet deal. Seen this with other companies as well. At the end of the day, it's not the dealership paying for it... it's the customer.
