Sorry mate, but Ford themselves have said it used a heavily modified version of the T6 the Ranger chassis/frame

So not sure that someone pointed this out yet, but it has an RPG skid plate. Looks like RPG only manufactures F-150 accessories. Also, the extra bracing in the bed. How is this not for exploring the idea of a full size Bronco? There is little business case for a reg cab, short bed, Raptor version. Also, it would not need the extra bed bracing if that were the case. It would be the proper length for an SUV.

My guess is this is a test mule for a full size Bronco Raptor based off the F-150 platform. The better questions is, what do they name it? We know the regular Bronco will be based off of the Ranger platform. If the 'Bronco Sport' retains Bronco somewhere in the name, you can be sure a full size would as well. If the Bronco Sport ends up being called the Maverick or something else without Bronco in it, then the full size would probably follow suit there.

This is the same type of approach they took with the regular Bronco. Test mules were modified extended cab Rangers (they are not offered with reg cab, short bed) with chopped beds (since a regular short bed would be too long for an SUV. In the case of the F150, there was a regular cab, short bed already available to use as a mule.

I really think the giveaway here is the extra bed bracing.

@93_SVT_3503 Yes, I've read the thread. I did not see any link to the Autoblog video that came out on Monday though. I thought it would be of interest and pertinent to this thread.

I agree but all of these guys that are supposed in the know keep saying no. Although their story changes. First post in this thread was “it is f150 related” then Bronco R. Maybe they are actually in the know and are just trying to point everyone in other directions away from actual facts.

What is not sinking in? The fact is Ford has always stated that the Bronco R is based on a modified T6 platform with aftermarket components. No where until this thread has anyone made claims that the Bronco R uses F-150 components. T6 and F-150 are not even close to “sharing components”.

So re-reading this whole thread. Those in the know seem to be saying that this is a Bronco R that will be a limited run and not street legal. Perhaps since Ford is now the main sponsor for King of the Hammers, this is a Bronco R that they will have for sale for races like that. Similar to the cup car idea, or drag racing factory cars, that are not street legal.

That would also explain why they are trying to tone down the conversation and not get people hyped up about it, because most people wouldn't buy it since they couldn't drive it on the street. Just a thought.

Ford is making a mistake if they don't think there is a market for a full size Bronco and Raptor version though.

They should just raptor the expedition and that's what it would be, again massive cannibalization on the expedition and even the f-150. It's in the talks, it would still be in the talks and at least 5 years out it's wayyy to early to see a test vehicle when they haven't even released the bronco bronco as if it's bombs then they are stuck with another vehicle that would sell even less and they already put all of there eggs in one basket with all the new vehicles coming out this year. Honestly it's way to early to tell what is, no one here knows what it's for why the "insiders" here even have inconsistent information on it. Personally like others have said it's looks to be just testing parts not tests for an actual vehicle

Proof thats not as true as you might think. Its mostly f150 under the Bronco R.
The folks that built it for ford even said that ford dropped off an f150 chassis and said get to work.
