Hi all,

I have a stock 2-door Wildtrak and while I bought this trim because it doesn't require a lot of cosmetic changes to look good and do love the stock look, I'm thinking of upgrading the wheels when the tires need changing. The bottom line is if I do upgrade the wheels/tires I think I'd like them a bit bigger .. say 18". I mostly bought the Bronco on looks and top off fun vs hardcore off-roading so I see no need to stay at 17". I'm not dogmatic about it. Please share your pics and experiences with different size wheels and tires. Mostly looking for 18", but wouldn't mind seeing anything you have. And yes I'm prepared to be beaten down for this. My loin is girded :).

Apologies if there are other threads on this (18’s specifically). I've searched and cannot find any.

Outer Banks come with 18x7.5 wheels and 255/70R18 tires. More wheel, less sidewall.
Hi yeah not a fan of the OBX wheels. Looking for aftermarket options that someone may have installed. Thanks!

18s are totally fine.

My last rig was on 18s.

Obviously the smaller diameter the wheel, the better for offroad. Now-a-days 17s are by far the most popular size, with a ton of different tire options. Tire size and tire options are crucial.

BUTTTT

There are some great tall and skinny 18" diameter tires, due to 18" being a popular size on heavy duty trucks.

I know you want to see 18s but here is a look with 17s with 315 KO2s for you. I think the bigger tire makes the look nit necessarily the 18 vs 17. Now if you want 20s, that would hugely change the look.
Hi, love the color of your wheels? And love the seats, I plan to upgrade to aftermarket leather once the stock Ford garbage starts looking worn which should be any day now. What is the official name of that color? Thanks.

How do you like the WIldpeaks? I had Wildpeak MT's on my 21' Jeep Wrangler and found them slippery in dry and wet, but that could've been my driving style. Thanks.

They’re a great tire. 20 k on this set. No issues slipping on wet and they are a beast through snow. My only issue is at highway speed they are a bit noisy especially as they wear. They also don’t pick up a lot of stones when off road.

Heck-15’s used to be the offroading standard.

Nothing wrong with 18’s. Been considering a bigger wheel diameter for our rig to get even more positive backspacing for use with the Portals. That extra half inch might be enough to get +50mm. Gotta do some physical fitment testing though and find good beadlocks.

What width are you planning on going with?

I have 255/80/17 on my Ranger with the 17x8.5 Sasquatch wheels, the wheels are too wide for that tire. It looks a bit funky.

Not certain. I haven’t done a ton of research on what’s available as the 40’s we have will still have quite some time before they need replaced. I can’t imagine going much wider that 8.5 or 9

I think wheel size has increased as we have moved from drum brakes and small disks to larger and large disks. The only downside I see with 18s is a little more limited tire selections. I think there are more offerings for the 17s but I could be wrong.

You’re definitely not wrong. Way more options for 17’s.
