Can someone explain where the bronze wheel fad came from? I do not get it. Legit question.
Different people have different tastes

I like them. Black wheels make tires look dirty and are on everything. Silver/chrome can look good but also really common place. Bronze/gold works with a lot of colors, pulls in a lot of attention, and I think look good most of the time

I had bronze wheels on my LX so I might be biased:

I know people have different tastes, but when did the bronze fad start? I haven't heard of it, or seen them in my part of Florida. This forum is the only place I've heard of it. Everyone here is pretty much going with black wheels.

Hmm, I knew of a few Raptors that had bronze wheels when I bought my 2013 Raptor new. Toyota truck owners have been on the bronze train for a while

Oh my husband just reported to me that he saw bronze wheels on a truck in Gainesville this week. I guess North Florida is moving into the trend now.

Great points. Blame me and a few OG SRT Jeep guys for starting the black wheel trend back around 2007. Most guys did a matte black, I was one of first to do a longer bake in the powdercoat oven to get a high gloss look. See pic of my old SRT jeep right after I installed a 1500 novi paxton polished head unit (supercharger). You can find some old vids of it on youtube under supercharged SRT Jeep episodes 1-6....one of the first to be a "youtube influencer" back around 2007 hahaha!! I guess that is something to be proud of haha. That was a long time ago. Anyway. I also powdercoated exhaust and painted all chrome trim to match on Jeep. Looked great. So good that my dealer I had do the work in Atlanta, GA had their body shop send pics of my rig to Chrysler bc looked so good and the rest was history. Black trim packs started popping up everywhere by 2008-2010..

Over the years since then my cars have mostly, not all, had black wheels. Not always my preferance but whatever. More important, everyone has black wheels now. Hand in face.. Sorry world.

I honestly believe wheels and tires can either make or break the look of a car. Black wheels are played out but looked great on my bronco + they don't show dirt hardly at all since a matte finish. If gloss black finish like my Jeep or Nightshade 4Runner...wheels look great when clean but a bitch to keep clean and spider scratch easily.

Best looking wheel finish IMO is a polished alloy or similar. If you get a deep two/double step rim lip with a nova design...my fav wheel look. Had it on my RT Turbo stealth and RT Durango. See pic of my old stealth car/wheel. It was #52 of 57 last production year. Awesome car but good luck finding parts and working with lots of 1990s surface rust!!

Also posted a pic of my old FJ MT. Looked good with black Toyota steely rims. Would post pics of my other car rims over years but no.

My newest prediction for wheel love trends and going on my next project car will be a copper chrome look against shiny black paint with chrome copper trim. Would look so good if done right and I think what all of the bronze wheel guys like yourself would probably like even more.

Well that's enough rambling for now. Sorry forum. Sunday morning with nothing to do before sunrise here out west. Until next time..

As wheels got bigger over the years, the switch to black made them look less huge, as well as looking good on lighter car colors like white which became more popular. Then , euros and exotics embraced it and it was on. They don’t show brake dust as much which is a bonus. I personally never bought black wheels but I do like them in matte finish as well as Matte Gray, bronze, even gold. Subaru rally cars had gold wheels for many years and I’ve had a few STis which you could get with gold BBS wheels from 04-10. They look good but I always went with silver more low key.

Just posted this in another thread but probably more appropriate here…

So this is going to be my first car that i am getting my own custom wheels. Getting the SAS on my BL which has a +30 offset. From what I have read online, it is advised to stay within +\-5mm of the factory offset. Im planning on sticking with the 17x8.5 maybe 17x9. If thats true then I have to say options feel pretty limited … am I overthinking or just not looking in the right places?
17x8.5 should give you tons of options.

I’ve got the same wheels for my FE. Could you Post a few more pictures? What offset?
The shop that installed the wheels posted pis on their Instagram. Let me know if you want any other pics and I'll take them.
The Method wheels are 0 offset.
