What's more f'd is the pic in Microcat shows the jamb nut is supposed to be available with the rack assembly or with the -A kit. I popped 4 other boxes opened, no nut and it doesn't show it as a stand alone hardware number. We could claim they were mispackaged and send them all back but then have no idea if the next batch we get is any different. Or, the catalogue could be wrong.
Good news is my actual dealer got the “A” part in already and my windshield recall appointment is tomorrow so I’m gonna have them do it all.

Welp

all done

new tie rod and boot and clamps and alignment

they laughed when I asked about warranty.

$91 for the tie rod KIT

$119 to line it

$135 (!!!!) for the tie rod labor

plus tax

Luckily had enough ford pass points to pay for all but $70.

kept my ranger tie rod and boot

and @flip they had to reuse my old nut.

That’s almost as much as a set of Broncbraces (there must be a lesson here)

I went ahead and got a couple of the $6 tie rods from rock auto as emergency spares:

Seem like they'll be fine on the trails for emergencies. Will just keep em stuffed in the storage in the Bronco.

It seems like Ford *might* have designed this part to break, before transferring all that stress to other components further down the line? (or they're just cheap)
So if we put huge hefty tie rods, or the braces... what would break next, and how much is that to replace?

Next up is steering rack, driver side, there’s a fix for that too. After that is steering rack, passenger side, there’s a fix (pricey) for that too

For the price of a mediocre cheeseburger you can potentially save hundreds on a tow bill.

Yeah...Lesson Learned! Tie Rods and Tums are going in the trail bag.
Don't forget Imodium and Ibuprofen.
Being out in the wild is hard.
Harder when you make dicey breakfast choices.
Trust me.
Nothing like being 30 minutes or more down a trail and your gut decides the grenade you put in it 2 hours prior is primed and ready.
