Because if you've ever installed any kind of bolt on something you'll know that as soon as you do, you scratch the paint. That leaves that surface area open for rust.Curious why you went with Stainless? Why not carbon steel if you're powder coating? Is it just for rust proof precaution?
Going with stainless means you don't have to worry about scratching the powder coating, you're still protected.
