So this weight limit thing. Will badlands simply not be able to overland?

I was going to get this truck to pack with gear and head overlanding but based on "very limited" reading on this GVWR thing. ford has completely shit itself and its "most capable" vehicle for off roading can manage 4 passengers and maybe a big cooler?

Please correct me if im wrong.

Will it be able to carry all of this stuff? or is it just a legal insurance issue?

what exactly makes this vehicle 40% less capable with weight than a wrangler?

Let’s not jump the gun here. No official GVWR has be posted by Ford yet so I don’t think there is a reason to freak out over speculation. If this makes or breaks it for you then I would suggest purchasing something that can fit your needs with an already known GVWR so as to not be surprised or disappointed.

right but the GVWR for these jeeps is almost double that of the bronco
Do you even math bro? Almost double the GVWR would put you squarely into one ton territory. There ain't no Jeep with that kind of capability.

Physics will dictate if you flip over. Higher the center of gravity (due to weight being placed higher up) will make you more prone to flip. If you plan on taking your Bronco on some less than flat trails I would not overload it but you can also flip being under the GVWR depending on conditions.

I think it just comes down to using your noggin and the common sense that ain’t so common. If you load it up and your suspension is sitting lower than a low-rider on bags then yeah maybe not a good idea to drive.

More weight means more kinetic energy too so you need watch the brakes and drive slower. I think if you want to carry 4 200lb men with all their gear then you will have issues because this isn’t a pickup truck on truck suspension. You will physically feel the weight in the vehicle.

I think the real question is why does Estaban mention that in MY22 you'd be able to get a 4-door with the roof rack from the factory? What changes between now and then? Any guesses?

You can thank ridiculous lawsuits for it. Think about this. If you loaded up a badlands and disconnected the swaybar and rolled it, Ford could be open to lawsuits if they didn't CYA. Their fix would be to discourage using that model to be used as a pack mule via GVWR specs.

Wrangler GVWR is under 6k. Bronco can't be half that. Crazy.
