SOFT TOP….PREP KIT….????

These two screenshots are from the window stickers on two "mannequins" that are delivered and sitting at the dealer. Both are Badlands 4 door. Two questions for the experts here:
#1- Why do the soft top (one w/prep and one w/o prep) and storage bag (one w/top and one w/o top) entries show the same price?
#2- Did your 4 door online build and reserve w/soft top show "w/hard top prep".?

Currently in “Build and Reserve" selecting soft top shows hard top prep is included.
Also if you select soft top there is no storage bag option for the doors. You are prompted to select MIC hard top.!!

I think I remember hearing the doors wouldn't store in the back correctly with a soft top? So they don't offer bags perhaps?

Hopefully someone else can chime in as it is a vague recollection

They don't show on b&p. It's a separate option shown in the order guide 87D.

Keep in mind the mannequins were basically built however Ford could make them this time around. My dealer’s Wildtrak mannequin unit had the storage bags for the hard top panels and doors, but also had a “hard top delete” option.

Ford essentially modified the dealer mannequin orders so they could actually build them, so you’ll see lots of stuff on mannequin window stickers that aren’t even an option on standard retail units.

Door storage bags are the same price (but different order numbers) because the hard top comes with the roof panel storage bags.

The one without the prep kit was probably ordered with a hard top but shipped with a soft top. All dealer mannequins get the soft top regardless of what was ordered.

And as has been mentioned, the “with prep kit” language was added to all soft top builds starting in September.

For whatever reason, Ford's B&P only has the option for the storage bags present for the hardtop. They're two different order codes, since one is just the door bags and the other is the door bags as well as the front row panel bags on hardtops. The hardtop comes with front panel storage bags anyways, which is why either option is $350. It doesn't make much sense from the consumer's perspective (almost nothing Ford does will, really), but it's just the way things are in the ordering world.

As stated above, all soft top Broncos built 9/1/21 and later have free hardtop prep kits installed at the factory.

My "snark" meter started beeping, but I muted it since I did ask for experts.!

So the ones that are lucky enough to have the early build 4 door soft tops and also paid the $350 add-on will get bags for the doors.!
