Here’s the dealio: Everyone who has reserved a hardtop, the back window hardware is ALREADY in the production build. In order to help relieve the bottleneck, some of us would be willing to take a soft top instead. All Ford has to do is NOT REMOVE what they already planning to build (the back window hardware). It won’t cost them a penny more... since they already plan on building it that way. There are also a lot of FE folks who would love to get a soft top now (with rear window hardware) and the black mod top (or MIC) next year, Including me.

RELIEVE THE BOTTLENECK!!

I think yall are over valuing the need for a wiper or defroster on a near vertical back window.
For most folks yes. But, if the main components like wiper switch, sccm(module that controls wiper/washers, defrost switch, washer pump (it’s bi-directional) is there and is a matter of running a washer hose, and short section of harness, why not? If all of that has to be changed than no. Most will still want the top anyway for other reasons. I’ve already got the wiring figured out, it’s just a matter of switches and programming which are the major roadblocks.

That’s a little ridiculous, not sure if you were joking. 93% of orders now have the wiring....making it standardized and adding that 7% to the different config wouldn’t cost 1 Bronco in production time...it’s just a different config and now they go from having less than 1 in 10 different (not wired) to having them all built the same from that perspective. That’s easier, not harder.

I used to think Day 5 was an early reservation, until I found out that over 40% of reservations were made within the first 2 days.

And I agree with you completely. I love the soft-top for its convenience. I won’t miss the rear-wiper at all. But the only concern I have, is security. Thankfully Ford is already selling lock boxes from the Bronco Accessory Catalog. So anything important, I’ll put in there.

I’ll buy a hard-top in a couple years, when Ford finally figures out how to make them.
Ive never owned a hard top nor do I lock my doors on my jeep in the 8yrs Ive had it (living in FL and now CO). I ride doorless, trail doors, top down, safari top etc.. just be smart, don't leave valuables out in the open, use a steel security box (plastic locking glove box or locking center console dont count) and/or a security box behind the rear seat for larger items like tools.

I guess if I had the option of having the wiper and defrost prewired, I would take it. Although, I’ve had a soft top for over 3 years now and have not once wished I had a rear wiper or defrost. A lot of the time I have had the window out all together. (I live in the Northeast) Add the fact that the window is tiny and you have a big old tire taking some of the space, I really don’t know how important the wiper and defrost is. I think it’s more of the fact that they say you can’t have it than you actually need it.

I ordered that top when I placed my order on march 19. I contacted my dealer to see if my top was going to hold up my shipment , he said no. Only painted hard tops.

Did you order the soft top or molded in color (MIC) hard top on March 19th? The painted modular (MOD) hard tops aren't even available until 22MY. The current bottleneck in 21MY is the MIC hard tops.

I ordered the Mic top. I got the same dealer connection e mails. When I spoke to my dealer he said it was not affected, but I have no build date yet either. I read an article that said Ford basically took over the Webasto plant to get it sorted out. I guess we will see.

I keep seeing all these 2-door Broncos with the Bestop.

Ford, just give me the Bestop for my 2-door.😍

The MIC was eventually going to end up in the backyard next to my son's EB roof. I don't even care about the hookups.

I doubt you received the email to Bronco Specialists and Dealer Principals (link #2 above). That’s the one that specifies what the current commodity constraints are…
  • How can customers receive their Bronco sooner? Customers willing to avoid key commodity constraints (Hardtop Roof, 2.7L engine, Lux or Sasquatch Package, Badlands/Wildtrak, Safari Bar or Trailer Tow package, etc.) will have a higher likelihood for 2021MY production based on part availability.
So your dealer is either grossly uninformed, lying to you, or a complete idiot.

What is your reservation date (not order date), and what is your exact build spec?

If we know that, then we can better advise you of your likely delivery date, but with a MIC top, it’s likely going to be a while, given the current problems at Webasto, even with a lower spec Big Bend trim level, because all of the FEs need to be built this year.
