hello Bronco community,

I am planning on getting a Dual Top Bronco in the near future. I am reading lots of interesting things about much needed add-ons and the like all over the place. I am not sure if this was already asked in a different thread, but with a dual top, what's the best way to store the soft top over the winter please?

I'd appreciate any advice, thank you

We put ours in zip up mattress bags we got off Amazon. For the 2 door a full seems to work great….then just tuck it I a free corner of the garage till spring.

I put mine in a tarp, clip some carabiners thru a couple of the grommets, and hang it on my garage wall.
Storing your hard top in the summer is more of a challenge. You can buy storage bags for the front and middle panels, install a hoist and store it hanging from the ceiling, or buy one of several storage carts. Search the threads here for details and reviews of all these options.
Note that there are services that will come to your driveway, swap your top (hard to soft, soft to hard), and store the unused top at their facility. You pay a monthly fee (maybe $80/mo but don't quote me on that).

My soft top sits on the top shelf of a garage shelf in the winter with some blocking to keep all weight off the rubber seals, and the hard top: I bolt a 2x4 along the rear mount bolt holes and it hangs off that from some hooks under a car port in the summer.

Biggest problem with both are cats… who seem to love all things about this bronco

I store mine the same place as where I store the hardtop in the summer! just have a platform the soft top and windows are strapped to and then it’s pulled up to the ceiling. Then when you swap tops you switch them out.

it’s not light! I think maybe 100 pds or so? It’s more awkward in shape to carry around more than anything! I use a jbarr pole and strap and it says on that to have no more than 270 pds attached to it and both the hardtop and soft top has been stored this way for 2-3 years. Here the hardtop on there as well.

For my Dual-Top Bronco's Soft-Top, I bought the $100 Pittsburgh 440 lb. Electric Hoist from Harbor Freight and made a cradle out of 1.5x1.5x14GA slotted angle, 1/4x4" Flat Steel, & 2x2 lumber from Menards for the foam platform it came on ... cost under $190 for all the parts.

I'll post details in a separate thread I plan on doing soon. It is not quite done as I plan on adding more 2x2 lumber to the end angles so I can add 1/2" PVC pipe stop-frames so it hangs level.

Just felt this foam shipping skid was a nice storage platform and did not want it going to the landfill.

Winched up off the ground and supported at the base by that brick ledge. Hard top supported from the ceiling during summer months. Plan to rig up something better in the Spring but for now this is what it is

Revised my framework (added 2 more 2x2 boards & 1/2" PVC piping stop frame so it stops level with ceiling) and now have my 4 Mabett Door Storage Bags and the Mabett Soft-Top Window storage Bag stored on it as well.

It takes 2 people to guide it up & down due to the single point lift, but I can live with that.

Keep the foam pallet that it comes on, and put it back on it come fall/winter. That's what I did, works out perfectly.
