Someone please explain how the wheels work?

Alright guys im not clear on how the 17" Black High-Gloss Painted Aluminum with Warm Alloy Beauty Ring, Beadlock Capable Wheels work. what does it mean beadlock capable? is it possible to make it true beadlock and if so what does it intel? if i take it to a tireshop and say i want to make it beadlock will they look at me like im an idiot? is it predrilled? does the ring need to be replaced and if so from where. This might be a simple to most but its not clear to me

The wheel is beadlock capable and yes the trim ring is a beauty ring. Any tire shop can install bead lock tires but most local traffic laws don’t allow them for on road use or it’s a gray area. Why do you want to change over to BL?

You'll need to buy the actual bead lock rings from Ford to run them as bead lock wheels.

The current rings are just beauty rings and not functional other than covering up the holes there for the actual bead lock rings.

Does the beadlock ring bolt on both the inside and the outside of the tire?
If only on the outside, why doesn't the inside of the tire roll off when running low pressures or deflected?

The rim goes inside the tire and the beadlock ring clamps outside of the tire. It's a tire sandwich.

Normally the tire goes inside where it says "inner beadlock weld-on ring"

edit 2: Wait I think I misunderstood your question? You mean the outer side of the inner wall of the tire? Sorry I was thinking you meant the inner side of the outer wall. Now I'm confusing myself and inner and outer no longer have any meaning.

The overwhelming VAST majority of times that a bead slips, it is the outer side that does it.
BUt for the super, SUPER extreme, they do make double bead locked wheels.

Yeah, that's right. And you need 5.

Yes you “can” buy the Ford rings and run them as beadlocks but you will also want another set of non bead lock wheels & tires to run on the street. I would not worry about the spare...ya mostly just see bead locks on serious “crawlers” and racers that do their road miles on a trailer...

To be fair, I stripped two of my bolts that hold on the "beauty ring" and wanted to replace them - Each of those black bolts were $25 CDN. So keep that in mind when you see the price, the bolts are likely a major factor in that.

You're stripping them because you might have the wrong tools. The screws are Torx-Plus, using a regular Torx will strip if overtightened. I don't know the torque speq on them, but they should be properly torqued to prevent over-tightening and damaging the inside threads. The right tools will always help get it done right.
