I have hothead in my jeep.

Hothead is much more of a thicker mat upholstered in headliner material. Like a soft pad. It’s backed with cardboard and heat reflective material.

This appears to be basically just a thin fabric/felt application to absorb sound / echo.

If it’s like their Jeep product, Hotheads would probably have be cut smaller to leave room for the latches to operate... since it’s a thicker product (1” or so?)

I’ll see if I can find some picks of the hothead I can add to this post.

Seeing these photos, I’m definitely going with hothead again.

::EDIT::

This is directly from the Hothead Headliner website. You can definitely see the difference in their videos, but this may work.

Note: I think he’s holding two back to back. Thats a single on on the table ans the back side on the left (with the reflective layer).

From their site:

Like I said, I’m absolutely going with Hothead again. They’re such an amazing product in my Jeep. They’re on the forum. @Hothead Headliners

Don't forget the straight edge!
Thanks for the reminder. Looking at the pictures, why didn't anybody remind Ford to use one??

I don’t think the hotheads will cover as much too as what is shown on the prototype. Does anyone have experience with the BedRug headliner? It looks legit to me. I do know that material is tough and I think it would insulate sound well.

A lot of area not covered with this kit.
Yeah. The hothead are a multi component layered product about an 1/2” thick.... so it just sits in the recessed areas on the JL.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the shape of the Bronco roof.

The Ford option looks like it will cover more square inches than the hothead just by nature of it being so thin that it can fit under and around things... but the hothead Includes not just the fabric, but sound deadening material and thermal reflective sheet.

It’ll be curious to see a comparison of performance.

It kinda reminds me of a BedRug type material.

I took out the carpet in my JK and put in a full Bed Tred kit. The stock carpet and jute pad was heavier, insulated against heat and sound better and definitely fit better.

For sound dampening, you need mass. The Hot Head kits are so much better than the factory headliners it's not even funny.

Gotta be honest if I paid the best 60k for my build and I got this, I'd be pi$$3d off!

I'm sure it's just prototype, but this is just unacceptable. I could chew a straighter line with missing teeth.

I think you’re right about it being a prototype... hand cut rather than say, production laser cut from a template.

But I couldn’t help but think of this when I saw it:

“So! What do ya think, boss?!”

“I’m not, mad. I’m just... disappointed.”
