So I reached out to a different buddy who builds Jeeps for a living. He is not a fan of IFS since most of his builds are serious crawlers. But here’s what he had to say about the rear axle:

1. (On the shock mounting)Looks good to me. Different to see them angled forward that much on stock, mounying like that you can get a little more travel out of them

2.Looks like a Dana 44

3. I like the rear track bar mounts and angle

4. Lower arms are nice and flat. Looks good. Reminds me of a JK and 4Runner combined

5. I like how long the track bar is too
See and some people are freaking out. I personally think this thing is gonna be a boss with just some tires.

Oh yeah. 255’s are lame sauce. Let’s see some 315’s and then we’ll be talking.

Am I the only one who thinks this spy video is actually put out by Ford? How else can you explain the fact that at 32 seconds in the video cuts away, had it continued the vehicle would have been boxed in giving us a much better size comparison with other traffic.
100% either by Ford or with their express ok. Notice the interior shot cuts out the steering wheel, and the underside shots don’t reveal as much as they could. 100% staged.

255/75/17 tires. Correct?
Which are 32.1"
This confirms my wheelbase prediction...(I think)

Doubt it'll be killed in 4 years

So let's say it does 95% of what Jeep does (topless/doorless, manual, 2/4dr, off-road) but with it's edge (SFA but a 2.3/2.7, aka easy power)

Say half the buyers get an auto 2.3/7 4dr and like it better than a comparable Wrangler, than us enthusiasts who still love it and mod it and you h4rdc0r3 guys who are bitching until Ford Racing/Aftermarket creates a SFA

This isn't Toyota, this is Ford, and SUV/Trucks is their specialty.

Whatever the factory left on the table, aftermarket will pick up on
This reminds me of a Land Rover Defender. As long as it has taken Ford to develop it, not a surprise. They owned them...
I like it!

Also, why the hell are they putting all this effort into a rear axle without something equal to match up front? Makes me very suspicious....
Because they don't want it to look like the other short SUV that shares a frame with Ranger ...

.

Maybe its easier to make the rear solid axle articulate than the front.

think you got that backwards, you think ….haha you edited right as I quoted.

n/m

Even then, if the base model is priced on par with the sport, but has that rear suspension and IFS, then I believe, based off of experience, that the Bronco will be killed off within 4 years. no second generation, no BigBronco.
No offense, but It seems like your opinion is clouded by your specific experience and needs. 99% of the country (And 99.9% of Bronco buyers) doesn’t need a brand new $50k suv with the capability of a big block swapped 80s Bronco on 42s or whatever. I get where you’re coming from, but they’re not trying to get 30 hard core off roaders. They want mass appeal and they’re going to have it.

It's the top, the look, and the relatively small size that sells the most, I would think. People love them based on that.

But then they drive it until it's no longer upside-down on the loan and then they bail because it's a garbage car to daily drive.
Jeep Wranglers hold their value better than most everything on the market. Pay cash, barely depriciate,
Just avoid a loaded Sahara or Rubicon.
I have had 3 of them, trust me.

I think the Explorer uses a different platform than the Ranger...
I thought the same at first.
The pic is labeled as an Everest....also zoom in on the hatch to confirm.

Yeah it’s calculated etc. a 255 is roughly a 31.5, a 285 is roughly a 33”, 315 is roughly a 35. Give or take half an inch.

It is in general given it’s a 70r17 or 75r17 like a Jeep.
Aka you need the ratio for it to make sense, exactly.

A 255/85R16 is also a 33, for example.
