I have a used 2023 WT purchase with 6900 miles with a few mods. Still under warranty.
I have been on Google trying to figure out what this may be and if anyone else had this issue, and it lead me to this forum.
I’ve had it for 2 weeks and I did not test drive before purchase my husband did and apparently he did not hear or notice this noise. Which is about to make me return it and make them give me back my 4runner (hahaha ya right) it’s so obnoxious and as someone else mentioned it’s like a case of water bottles in the back rubbing together. But
we live on a very bumpy road and maybe after the first few drives down it something triggered the noise.
I have to say that I do have 37” tires.
Would this cause some stress on the tailgate to possibly cause this noise.
I’ve read threads from others experiencing the same noise and I’m going to try some of their suggestions on their fixes
But I haven’t read anything about it possibly being the tires being heavy??

There are bunch of threads about this if you search through the forum. Mine had the same exact issue and someone here recommended spraying WD40 white lithium inside the tailgate hinges and that took care of it for me. Haven’t heard clicking ever since

I think I have the same issue on a 23 WT. I’m not sure it was there at the beginning. I’ve only started noticing it some time I added the hammer built tailgate reinforcement and DV8 license plate relocation kit after I changed out the stock rear bumper. The noise sounds like leather seats rubber together but it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the seats.
I’ve seen the TSB on the tailgate rattle but I don’t think it is the same noise. I’ve order the white lithium grease and will try that and see how it goes. Good luck and let me know if you find a solution

I think it has something to do where the rear glass meets the top of the tailgate.
Basically, that joint/connection right there.
Some people have put down some weather stripping of sorts (on the tailgate), others have lubed it up.
But that's the fix.
Mine does it most of the time. But then sometimes it won't.
Mine didn't start till after the first time I took it off-road lol. Not sure if that was a coincidence or not...

Chiming in, it could also be your jack. I had noise and I checked everything on the tailgate. Then I read where someone else said check your jack. Sure enough, the handles were loose. Crank them down, noise gone.

Hmm, haven't heard that one before. Good info.

The loud squeaking I was hearing from my cargo area was from the rear cargo area glass weatherstripping - Where the seal meets the tailgate door. I applied some silicone lubricant generously along this, and it solved my problem.

In my instance my hard top was an aftermarket one, but others have reported similar issues with their OEM MIC top as well.

Hi Christina! I can look into your Bronco's noise concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Bronco's VIN?

Thanks for this. I hadn’t considered that before. My jack is partially obstructed by the slide out tailgate but I’ll see if I can fuss with it.

Thank you. I put some lithium grease on there and see if it takes care of the problem.
