I've seen a few comments across multiple forums with concern over the length of the antenna. If this is a concern to you, remember that a cheap and easy solution is to just remove it and cut off however much you want. IMHO, this also looks better than the fat, stubby antennas, again, just my opinion. You can find a rubber cap to put over the end once cut. This antenna is only used for AM and FM reception (please correct me if I'm wrong) and cutting it down really only reduces AM reception. From many moons ago, see pic below.

Glad you made this thread, I would have wished Ford made a smaller, modern looking antenna, why they gotta give us a freeway flapping stick ugh

I will just accept it and let it grow on me, but if Ford offers An aftermarket piece to make it smaller, I will buy!

A few reasons I can think of. There's no permanent back windshield to integrate an antenna. There's no place for a shark fin. It's easily replaceable/serviceable. And it can act as a clearance gauge.

In any case, stubby antennae replacements are widely available.

I have an Antenna X stubbie on my Jeep and it really, really sucks, barely picks up anything, looks cool though.

The long stock whip works great for a reason but even if you chopped it in half it would probably be waaaay better than that POS stubbie.

Do we believe that the antenna will be similar to the F150 or Ranger stock antenna?

It's my understanding that typically shark fin antenna's are used for cellular data, GPS, and satellite radio. The Bronco antenna for these purposes is in the roof frame over the cargo area.

The whip antenna on the front right quarter panel is for AM/FM.

The beginnings of antennas with gain start at 1/4 wavelength. 108MHz (the highest frequency/shortest wavelength in FM) has a wavelength of 2.8m, so the 1/4 wavelength is 0.7m or 27 inches. But this is, essentially, an omnidirectional antenna, with next to no gain. Shorter is lower gain, but will not matter in town, you will just lose stations a bit faster as you leave town. Probably not a big deal for most people in daily driving, and most people (I think) are not using the radio on roadtrips, you can use your phone as a source, with either stored music or your choice of streaming service. In addition, I think we are getting Sirius/XM equipment (and a few months of service included), so if that is your jam, you are set.

TL,DR: a shorter antenna is pretty unlikely to adversely affect your life...
