Anyone have any pictures of their Sasquatch Good year tire sitting next to a Mickey Thompson Tire that’s a true 35? Im getting my Good years replaced in June and was gonna do comparison photos with some measurements if folks on Bronco6g don’t have any pictures. My friend got a pair of Mickeys and the size was noticeably bigger on width and height compared to my stock tires. But he didn’t want me to pull his spare off and sit it next to my wheel for pictures. Said “why, you nerd”. 😂

Thanks

I don’t have side-by-side pics, but I’ve seen a few threads where folks mentioned the MTs run bigger, especially in actual height. The Goodyear MTs on Sasquatch seem closer to a 34.4” true size, while some Mickeys push a true 35+ and are a bit wider too.

Going by actual manufacturers websites

Goodyear Territory MT 315/70r17 = 34.4 inches
Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT 315/70r17 = 34.6 inches
Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT 35x12.5r17 = 34.8 inches

so none of these are a “true 35”, whatever that means.

So best case scenario, you gain 2/10’s of an inch ground clearance.

Also interesting to note: Mickey Thompson says their 315/70r17 are actually wider than their 35x12.5r17.

I just replaced my stock Goodyears with Mickey Baja Boss. They LOOK bigger. The part I’m excited about is the sidewall. I’ll have extra clearance just for the stiffer sidewalls.

I agree. When I air down my stock tires the sidewalls are super soft and loose quite a bit of ground clearance.

I don't think I have any pictures, but I used to have Baja Legend 35x12.5, and I still have a set of Goodyear SAS takeoffs that I keep for winter.

The difference in height is pretty minimal - no change in speedometer or anything between the two and the same calibration is pretty accurate for both. No appreciable difference when I step in or how it rides or anything. The 315x70 is notably narrower than a 35x12.5 though, and I can notice the difference in offsets (my Bajas were on 0-offset rims, the SAS takeoffs are on +33) in how the steering feels.

The Bajas didn't throw rocks nearly as bad, and ran well on and off road, except for snow (the Bosses supposedly do a lot better than my Legends did, I almost went for a set when these Legends finally were done). The GY's definitely better in snow, comparable on other surfaces, but threw little rocks like mad. Weight the Baja's ran a little bit more, but given that they were mounted on different rims, my mounted weights won't mean too much.

Y'all need to put down your rulers and go driving.

The stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life is "it's not a true 35".
Wait until they find out about that 2x4 they bought at the lumber yard.

Why didn’t you pull YOUR spare and set it next to his?

Good question. He said no, don’t got time for that. 😂

I will post pics here in June. Get them installed June 11 or 12. I guess no one has side by side pics.

You also need to account for construction and weight rating.
The stock tire squish’s down more than the MT D or E rated tire will.
My stock tires measure at 33.5 as it sits in my driveway not 34.5 as it does on the tire rack not mounted.
