Installing front upper control arms and trying to do the driver side tonight. Anyone else have any issues trying to get the steering shaft to separate? Mines like glued in there anyone have any tips to getting it out. I’ve tried prying with a flat head to open up the clamp a little but nothing is helping. I sprayed it down with wd40 letting it sit for the night I guess. It does have a little rust inside. Anyone know what that plastic thing in the end is?

Mine popped right out by prying with screwdriver as you said but there wasn't any sign of rust. Let her soak. Not sure what the plastic piece is, I don't recall having one.

Yeah what should of took me 10 min last night has turned in to day 2 after I get off work this evening. Thought I was doing something wrong but I guess mine being almost 2 years old now it’s seized in there. I think that shaft is plastic too so I need to be extra careful.

Nope, shaft is metal. Keep working it, it'll come.

Went home on break and I got it. The wd40 didn’t do anything to loosen it up any. I double checked that shaft was metal with a magnet then I used a pair of vice grips, took a hammer and tapped on it till it came all the way out. It was stuck in there pretty good and was pretty rusty inside. Going to wait till my lunch break and use some sand paper to clean out the rust so I can re insert it. I tried to get back in but it wouldn’t go freely because of the rust.
