Driving around with the top propped up is not a good look and probably not good for the top. Take the back section off. That is the better solution.

I figured it out. A short piece of 2x4 under each side of the top then lower it to rest on the wood. Worked like a charm allowing enough clearance for the rods but doesn’t mar the paint at all. This only needs to be done a few times each season and I’m going 10 miles on good roads. Problem solved.Driving around with the top propped up is not a good look and probably not good for the top.
