Ford's gone about the Bronco pretty well in my opinion, yes, based on the Ranger and going back to their EB roots. What will happen next? Who knows, up above was talk of the FJ, yes it was a big seller then dropped and disappeared but need to remember that timeframe as well. Gas prices jumped, people were losing jobs, homes and those big expensive SUV's were getting repo'd! If you look at production numbers for the Jeep they were well down too and competitors like the FJ and Hummer were left way behind. So with that Toyota dropped support, GM dropped Hummer and gave Jeep the market!
Could Ford do the same if the economy tanks? Probably, they've dropped sedans, wanted to drop the Mustang a couple of different times and already have a Mustang SUV. The Bronco should prove successful for Ford but it's not an F-150 numbers wise, they want 200k a year right? That's Wrangler numbers but they also have the Cherokee and GC selling in those numbers too so that's allot of competition for the market. Wrangler and Bronco are very capable but most will be used as family or straight on road transportation which is going to cut into Explorer sales. So can Ford keep this up after all the reservations are filled to even consider a replacement/updated model or is this Bronco just a one-trick pony? Good Question and we'll see how Ford handles electrification and technology and what the buying public wants and the economy will support.
