I’m getting a base 4 door 2.3, want to add a 1.5 lift and larger tires. Looking for some lightweight options on the tires and wheels to help offset the penalty of going larger. I’m thinking 33-34 inch tall on the tires, 17 x 8-8.5 on the rims. My last 2 vehicles had flow formed wheels and they were pretty light. I’ll do some light off reading but nothing too crazy, this will be my DD.

You can do 33” tires (285/70R17) without a lift and probably on the stock black steelies if you wanted. 285’s will clear with the factory +55mm offset on the Badlands, and I’ve seen several base builds with 285/75R16 on silver steelies. Stock Badlands takeoffs would bolt on your BD. Firestone Destination A/T are one of the lightest tires I found when searching for 265/75R16 for my Tacoma, might be a good place to check on the 285’s.

Titan 7 makes some super light wheels. I bought Motegi Trailites, 23lbs each.
Titan 7 are $$$$.

Lighest AT wheels seem to be the Territory on the badlands (optionnal) in 33 or Sasquatch in 35.
For wheels, Titan 7 if you have $, otherwise Method has really light ones and good quality

And my Motegis are like 2-3 lbs more for only 200 a pop. It was an easy choice. (and I think they look better to boot)

For perspective, something like a Method 701 is nearly 10lbs heavier.

Go to a 3 inch lift , don't waste money on a inch and a half .

If you’ll be going only “light off roading”, consider getting a P (passenger) tire instead of an LT (light truck). Many good all terrains have that option. The downside is less durability off road—particularly with side wall resistance to sharp rocks, roots and such.

Trying to find a 285 75 17 tire that’s not a boat anchor is tough. I really wanted around a 34 tire for aesthetics.

Most all 315-70-17 are 34.4" tall. Look at the offerings in a Load Range "C" or possibly "D". With a light weight wheel and a bigger tire you should be able to hit very close to the factory wheel/tire weight.

In the 17x8 +25mm those are only 21.2 pounds. Those could be a winner for me, I like the simple fake beadlock free design. Although the Gloss Titanium version is showing 23.4 pounds, not sure which is right.
I took a plumb bob to my fender flares last night. With the stock Badlands BFG 285/70R17 I have 1 -1/16” from the outside edge of the tread to the outside edge of the flare, in the rear it’s 1”. I’d like the tread of the tire to be even or under the flare, so +25mm will hang them out just a touch too far. +35mm will give me what I want, so I’d be stuck spending more on the Method 703 or 705. I could probably go with +30mm, but I’m not a huge fan of the Sasquatch wheels and nothing else comes in +30mm that I’ve found.

I ended up with a D rated 315/70/17, Mickey ATZ, it comes in at 66 lb. Looks like the KO2s coming off are 51 lb. I still haven't seen a definitive weight on standard BL wheels to know what my overall change is yet. I've seen one figure of 79 total, so I might be gaining 10 lb per corner.
